Description:

1972 Volvo 144

I am selling a 1972 Volvo 144E with at LEAST $15,000 invested in it. Clean Florida title in hand in my name. I have 800+ positive feedback since 1997.

The previous owner bought it new in Stockholm in 1971. I have quite a bit of paperwork, including the original sales receipt from Volvo in Stockholm. The original owner was in the service. He drove the car around Europe briefly and then shipped it home to California, where it spent most of it's life. It has never been off the road, always maintained. It has Volvo high-mile club badging and award certificates in the paperwork. The PO was very fond of this car. I bought it 6 years ago, and had it shipped to Orlando. Sadly, because of no room in the garage, it was outside, but always covered. It has developed some rust in the doors, and under the spare wheel well. How did it rust? The window scrapers are shot, rain was able to make it in. The rust could be addressed, or the car can be parted out. If you keep the car, the rust must be addressed before it gets worse. Or at least garaged until you have the time.
Reason for sale. I bought this car as a father-son project. My son has now finished school and will soon move out of state, and we plan to follow. I am selling all my vintage vehicles, in fact.

Most of the pictures are OF the problems, so there are no illusions about condition.

While it was converted to NA, the new owner gets the whole FI system2-3 boxes of parts, some really nice. Nice rear light pods.
Spare M40 transmission. This has a bent 4th gear fork, but can be used for parts, or fixed and dropped in to any other car that used the M40.
All the above, when added up, represents an enormous sum of money, time and labor.
Last I drove it, all functions worked, but that is not a guarantee when you come get it.

The BADIt has rust.. it just does.
Paint is completely shotDoor cards are shotRear view mirror is toast
While it runs and drives, it needs tuning.
Slight exhaust leak. The IPD headers just aren't great, maybe needs to be milled flat.

I will not part it out. Highly recommend you send a truck, go through everything before driving it.

Bottom line. This is a classic 'my loss, your gain' kinda thing. I just don't have room, time or resources to do anything with this car. I realize that I will lose effectively all of my investment. Whoever buys the car, gets a few boxes of parts, any documentation I have, a title and bill of sale. Plan to have this towed.
