Description:

1971 Volvo 144 Black door panels, brown cloth seats

We bought this Volvo new in Toronto in January 1971 and moved to the USA in 1978. That's 51 years of single ownership, so complete history is known. The only body damage has been a minor parking lot dent to the right rear fender and it has nearly all original paint. After many other subsequent used Volvos, this is the last one to go because we have sold our house. It is very original and worthy of an easy refurbishment which should be done due to its age. The only parts replaced have been brakes, exhaust, clutch, universal joints and two new front fenders. The engine has never been out. It currently has a 1972 cylinder head, manifold and SU carburetors fitted but the original more complex set up is included. New repair panels are included for where rust repair is needed. Also included are many spares retained from other Volvos we have owned including from 145 and 245 models which must be taken and are too numerous to list.
Our main hobby for over 60 years has been restoring and racing classic MG sports cars. We have cared for this Volvo as we have our MGs and tried to preserve its originality. It even has the original protective plastic on the sun visors and its original spare tire! We have kept it in dry storage for the last 28 years hoping to bring it back as a classic daily driver. But our age has taken over and it's time to find a new owner who shares our enthusiasm.
