1992 Volvo 240 "245" Base Wagon

Meet Sherman. I named the car Sherman because he is a tank, nd he handles like it, oo. He is from that era when cars were made of metal, nd his engine, ith a little work, ould easily go another 100,000 miles or more.
I learned to drive in Sherman, nd he served me well for the year that I've owned him. Unfortunately, e came to me after a hard life of heavy labor and my mechanic said that he didn't want to try to rehab him for me. But I really love everything about the Volvo 240 wagon, o I bought the same model again, ne that had been better maintained, or around $5k here on eBay. These cars really hold their value, nd if someone with mechanic / autobody experience did want to put in the signifigant time and effort to rehab Sherman, hey could potentially make a fair profit on the deal. The Volvo 240 has a small community of diehard fans, ike me.
My "new" 240 is fully restored, o I don't need a parts car. I hate to send Sherman out for scrap when I know that there are lots of people who do want original Volvo parts for their restorations. So, hile I'd rather someone buy him to fix him up, 'm also okay with him becoming an organ donor, o keep other 240s on the road longer.
His current problem is that the transmission is leaking fluid. If you fill it up, ou can drive a couple of miles, ut that is about it. So, ou will have to arrange for him to be towed to your location. But that is just the beginning... Sherman has a long list of "quirks."
Front bumper cover is missing.Drivers side window doesn't go down.Drivers side back door doesn't open.Back window was broken out by vandals a couple months ago. Taped some plexiglass over it and kept on driving.Gas gauge does not work.He has a bit of rust, articularly in the rear wheel wells.
I am at least the 3rd owner. The previous owner was a hippie / outdoorsy type whose kid put lots of granola - REI - sports gear stickers all over the rear. I've peeled off a lot of them, ut there are still plenty of remnants there to amuse you. If what you enjoy is peeling off weird bumperstickers.
He came to me with an extra set of wheel, ires on. He has one all weather set and one winter set.
Sherman lives in Pittsburgh. I don't, nymore. So, can't just run out and get a couple more photos for you. If you have questions, will try my best to answer them. I am away at school, nd may be delayed in my responses.
