This Volvo 1800 (e) is a fine example of long term ownership and a dry Central Oregon climate. This 1800 was sold new from Triumph Continental Motors out of Seattle WA in 1970 to Flora F. (We have a copy of the original title for the new buyer) It stayed in Washington State until 1985 until she moved to Oregon. The car was recently given to her niece before we got it. The original owners manual, paperwork and original Volvo owners ID cards come with the car, see photos.
This 1800e starts and idles well at 900 rpms. The compression in the engine is strong (see photos) 165-180psi thru all 4. The fuel injection system responds nicely, it revs easily up to 4,500rpms and shifts smoothly thru all the gears. The overdrive blue light comes on but I'm still trouble shooting why it doesn't engage. Reverse works as it should and the car hits 70 mph with ease. (see video for it driving) The brakes work well with a quick response to the wheels. This is a very low mileage 134k car, the under dash photos provided in the dropbox folder below show how clean and original it is.
The body is in amazing condition. I do not believe it's ever been in any major accident, if you look at all the gaps on the hood, doors and trunk they looks even and original. See video for all the doors closing with ease. The body does have scratches, a few minor dings here and there but the paint seems original or at least pretty old. This one won't win any cars shows on the paint, but it's in amazing condition without any major rust. The left rocker panel on one seem does show some age, see photos for a close up. The rocker seams and body panel seams are all present without any filler or bondo. The undercarriage is rust free without any signs of rot or rust.
The interior is all complete and in nice original condition. The front drivers seat is worn and has a seat cover over it. The carpet does show some age but is in pretty good shape for being original. The original dashboard doesn't have any cracking, just a small wear mark by the speedos. The glass all around is in great shape, there is a small chip on the front windshield. In the trunk it comes with the original spare tire, jack and the original Volvo tool kit.
All electrical works as it should except the clock and the radio. The tach, speedo and odometer are all functioning as they should. See video for a full electrical walk around.
