1982 Volvo 240

Rare 1982 Volvo 240 DL Police cruiser in very clean condition. 87,000+ actual miles, B21F-mpg (higher gas mileage) 4 cylinder engine. This car comes with all the rare police package goodies including: factory rubber floor carpet, flashlight and baton holders, rear vinyl drop cover, extra padded seats, heavy duty suspension (blue shocks with what looks to be diesel springs), dual transmission coolers, rear 3.91 differential, 120mph speedometer. It also seems to be a California spec car (I think) including the CIS constant idle system. New rear Cooper Lifeliner tires in the rear, Pirelli P4 tires up front with good tread. The Volvo drives and shifts very smoothly. I bought it from an elderly couple who bought it in the early 80's from Don Beyer Volvo in Falls Church, Virginia who sold it for the Falls Church Police department. It then spent the next 30 years in their garage. The police photo advertisement included is of the actual car in this auction. I've put about 4000 trouble-free miles on it since. I'm keeping the Alpine deck which works great through the two factory speakers, but I'm including the original factory stereo- the deck turns on, radio doesn't work, but a cassette adapter plays through the left channel. Also included are the original blue factory molded floor mats in decent shape. The heater is amazing, all fan speeds work. The A/C compressor turns on but needs to be recharged with R12 or converted. Cruise control works. The paint is original and in decent shape, and the car is almost completely rust free except for a small area on the lower rear passenger quarter panel. No exhaust leaks. Most of the interior lights and bulbs work. The only issues with the car are the washer fluid pump is out but a new one is included in the sale, the fuel pump makes a ticking sound, though the car runs perfectly, so I bought a new in tank pump, hose, and filter from IPD which are included. The driver side rear bumper shock is compressed and could probably be pulled. There are some cracks in the vinyl of the driver seat but it's comfortable. A tree branch dropped at some point on the forward right corner of the roof which resulted in a new windshield. The roof passenger corner trim there is slightly out of shape, but only if you're really looking for it. There are a few minor cracks on the dash but not too bad. Also included are two new distributor caps and one rotor, one extra ignition computer, and a few more parts I picked up as spares. Also the rear passenger hubcap fell off while driving during a rainstorm, I replaced it once before from ebay for about 30 bucks. This is probably the rarest Volvo 240 low mileage iteration out there, I've owned a bunch of 240's including a '79 GT, and this is the nicest driving of them all. Clear Maryland title. Drive it anywhere.
