1968 VW BUS CAMPER VERY EARLY 68 BUILT 9/20/1967 GARAGE FIND STORED SINCE 1987
1968 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon
It makes me sick to sell my bu, ut a recent illness has forced me to. This bus was stored in a garage since 1987 till Sept. of this year when the brakes and everything had been gonethrough many weekends of work before.
New brake system includes all flexible lines, hoes, ardware, heel cylinders, nd master cylinder. New battery, oil, ront grease seals, uel lines, nd fuel pump. New 27x8.50 14 Kenda AT 6 ply tires that will carry the bus nicely. Front end is tight except drivers side outer tie rod. I have a new replacement not in stalled, lso have NOS SWF 68 wiper blades still in the package.
Good running 1600 dual port has replaced the original single port long ago. I drained the fuel tank and put a gallon of lacquer thinner in the tank and let it soak, hen drained it again. I repeated the process and drained it a week later, he replace the fuel line from the tank to the engine compartment. I still am getting some sediment from the tank and have changed the fuel filter several times. The filterwill need to be regularly until it clears out.
The body is very solid, ith the only rust holes in the battery tray and on each side of the bottom edge of the nose. Front floors are solid, nly surface rust on drivers side. Cargo floor is solid. Doglegs, nner and outer rockers, uarters, ear corners are all solid, olid, olid. If this bus had not been in a garage since 87 it would not be this solid. Some surface rust under front windshield. It has some lightbody damage, nd I tried to photo it all. Bus is Savanna beige and was repainted once years ago. Paint is faded, ut I think it would buff out nice.
This was a Deluxe bus that has been converted to a camper using OG Westy parts. Whoever added the top did a nice job. The canvas tent needs replaced, ut is still there. Front seats are not torn, ut stained. Drivers side door panel is missing heat duct to rear. Rear fold out bedhas stains, ome lose stitching on the edge and some splits on the seat, ut is plenty useable. All factory brown rubber floor mats still there.Has wardrobe closet and fold out bed and table. Does not have the jump seat or ice box. Vintage 8 track player on dash, adio works and tape player might. I don't have any 8 track tapes. This bus arrived at port in Jacksonville Fl and was built on 9/20/67 . I have two of the original unrestored correct date coded wheels that were on it.
Please email any questions. I have tried to cover everything I can think of.
Bus is currently tagged and insured in my name. I have only driven it locally and it is a blast. Clear NC title in my name. I just hope this bus finds the right home.
