1973 Karmann Ghia Convertible, Autostick
1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
For auction is my 1973 Karmann Ghia convertible. It is deep orange (VW called it Phoenix Red) with a black interior. Autostick transmission. New rebuilt 1600cc engine has less than 1,200 miles. Brand new tires and wheels, new battery, new main brake line, new master cylinder. Solid frame with only a little surface rust in a few spots. Solid floor pans. Jensen stereo with CD player. Original glass rear window. I have owned this car for the past 18 years. It has only been stored inside an enclosed garage. Clean little gem. I don't know how many actual miles are on this car. The speedometer says 86k but I put this speedometer in it a while back when the original one stopped working, and a mileage reading was already on it. The engine, however, was replaced with a brand new rebuilt motor a few years ago, and I have driven less than 1,200 miles since it was put in. Here is a link to a video of it running in the garage and on the road:https://youtu.be/MIgloWKwPjAAutostick transmission works fine. Brakes were recently overhauled with new stainless steel main brake line and master cylinder. They work great. Paint has some signs of normal wear for a car of this age. A few chips and cracks here and there. A little windshield hazing at the bottom corners, as with many cars this age.Seats upholstery and carpet are clean and in good condition with minimal flaws.. One 2 inch tear at the bottom of the passenger seat cover near the rail. Original seatbelts were replaced with non-retractable ones at some point. Can easily be switched back by the buyer if desired. Front hood release cable is not connected to the lever inside the glovebox. Pulling the cable releases the hood just fine. Clock on the dash does not work. May be able to be fixed. I have not tried. It wasn't working when I purchased the car. The horn and all lights, blinkers, hazards work fine. Windshield wipers work fine. Windshield washer bottle and connector are behind the spare tire, but not hooked up. I am located in Georgia, and the state of Georgia will not issue titles for cars this old, but it is clear and free of liens and will be sold with a Bill of Sale and the last tag receipt. The buyer can take the bill of sale to the tag office in their state and obtain a title.
