1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

This 1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible underwent a full refurbishment in the late 90's included a repaint in green, a four-wheel disc brake conversion, and re-trimming the interior in two-tone gray cloth and black vinyl. A modified 2,110cc flat-four was installed in 2021 and is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle.Additional equipment includes 15″ wheels, an adjustable front beam, a lowered ride height, replacement VDO instrumentation, and LED exterior lighting.Replacement 15″ wheels were sourced from a Porsche 914 wear BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport tires. A matching spare is mounted in the front storage area. The brakes have been converted to utilize four-wheel discs. The car rides lower than stock and has camber compensators, an adjustable front beam, and adjustable spring plates. Replacement front tie rods, ball joints, and wheel bearings were installed in 2021.The cabin houses seats reupholstered in black vinyl with gray cloth inserts along with gray carpets protected by checkerboard floor mats. Equipment includes front shoulder belts, a fire extinguisher, and crank windows and the original radio does not work.A replacement black canvas soft top and rubber body seals have also been installed.A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames replacement VDO instrumentation that consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel-level gauge. Readouts for voltage, oil pressure, oil temperature, and cylinder head temperature are centrally mounted below the dashboard.

The 2,110cc flat-four was built and installed in 2021 and modifications include the following:

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Rancho Performance 388 Pro Street four-speed transaxle.
