1971 VW Bus 'The Best Year'

Benefits of the year of 1971 for a VW Bus;
First year of the Disc Brakes in the front coupled with a Vacuum Brake booster, aka proper braking power instead of drums all around and no vacuum brake booster (like Buses 1970 and earlier
Last year of the Type 1 Engine, which is the same engine that was put in the later Bugs, aka they made millions more Bugs than buses, thus, the engine parts and the like are much much cheaper than a 1972 Buses' engine and later
Finally, a 1971 Bus still has the retro look in the front and back, with the low light turn signals in the front, and in the rear it has the retro brake light/turn signal combo, instead of the 1972 Bus and later that gets larger, and more squareish
This bus originally comes from Alabama, nice and dry, as far as I can tell never driven on a salty road. Light surface rust here and there but NO serious rust cancer to my knowledge
The Transmission slips out of fourth gear on occasion. The passenger door has a clasp to open and close it, the rear hatch is stuck shut. The front and back have dents.


Was my daily driver for the past 8 years. It drives straight and true, starts up every time, take it to Seattle and back (couple hundred miles round trip) a few times a year. Frequent oil changes every 3,000 miles.

As you can see a semi original westfalia and semi custom interior; has a REAL wood floor, ready to tour you and your friends around town. Has seat belts for every seat, modern day airplane extra long seat belts for ease of use and safety.

If you want a VW Bus that was mechanically taken care of first second and third, and bumps and bruises and dents a far fourth consideration, then this may be the VW Bus for you.
