Being that 1971 is the best year of the bay window vw bus, it’s highly collectible and sought after. This is in all original condition and really should have the restoration finished by doing the outside and getting it painted. 71s need to be preserved!
Why is 71 the best? It’s the last year of the old fashioned looking body style that looks awesome And the first year of the good braking system…disc brakes. So your car will actually be comfortable, enjoyable and safe, to drive:) I used to have some older busses (68, 70) but hated the old brake system & having to lug around two spare tires. I had a 74 which was cool but not the antique look and feel…felt like just a van. Had 72 but found out the flat pan engine in those years was a nightmare to own. I settled on my ideal, the 71, and will never sell it! Mileage unknownThis is a second 71 bus identical to my daily driver that I Vogt from a lady as her vw mechanic husband passed away. It was his beloved daily driver! It’s been parked for 2 years though. Anytime a car has been parked for over a year Id have the engine fully serviced, cleaned & replace the gas. I already put in a brand new battery & changed fuel filter, so I could start it up.
My bus was in a hit n run from the back, so I took the back bumper, apron, & muffler off this bus. They can be easily ordered new online, but I figured the new owner would rather have those pieces brand new if they are finishing the exterior anyway, and my bus is a bit dinged up, so the used parts fit the look. The First photo shows the bus with the bumper and all related parts Before I removed them..so you know it’s never been in an accident! I see no dents on this bus:) updated photos to come asap
