Hi, thank you for checking out my Thing. This VW was rescued from a yard in New Mexico a few years ago. It came to me with the original New Mexico title, so maybe not a lot of owners. The body has plenty of rust and age damage, so this is not for someone who doesn't find beauty in blemishes. If you are a VW purist, run now for your sanity and mine! I decided to give the car another life and enjoy the perfect imperfections that time has given it. The 1600 air cooled engine fires up every time and it doesn't leave me stranded. The fuel gauge and speedo are inoperable. I had my VW guy add a cam, so it scoots down the road. I go through phases where I daily drive it, and it is never a problem, including freeway speeds. I added the custom rims with new tires about 1 1/2 years ago, they are in nice shape, plenty of tread and zero curb rash. The soft top is also between 1-2 years old and in great shape. I have soft windows that my upholstery guy re covered for me, they aren't perfect, but they get the job done. As you can see from the pictures I had it lowered, the height is comfortable and doesn't affect drivability to much. Behind the rear seats I have a custom speaker box containing four 6x9's and a downward facing subwoofer that ROCKS!! Under the rear seat there is a 1000 watt amplifier. The stereo is equipped with bluetooth so you can play music with your phone. I added under glow lights strictly for the fun of it. The vehicle comes with a clean California title in my personal name for ease of transfer. I am planning to let it go for much less than I have spent on it, so it is my hope that whoever wins the bid will appreciate this special Volkswagen's fun loving vibe as it is.
