1973 Volkswagen Beetle - ClassicMy VW Beetle “Vocho” has only 14,516 Kilometers or approximately 9,000 original miles and runs like a top! You won’t find a more solid better example Original Paint and interior with only very minor surface rust of an air cooled bug. It is also a pretty rare color, “Plata Tornasol” which loosely translates to “Silver which returns the Sun.” It is actually the same color used on some Audi’s called “Melange Metal”. In the right light, it is kind of a flip-flop from silver to gold. Very sharp looking color. I installed 4 new Michelin tires, changed the oil and filter (yes its a factory spin on) new battery, replaced the shift bushing with one by EV4U made of Delron Plastic and the rear shift linkage bushings also replaced the brake rotors and pads (mainly because of sitting still for a long time). Yes it has factory Disc Brakes and Factory A/C, Chaplain Alarm System with key ! Factory Fire Extinguisher ! No Radio from Factory, Also original paint and interior !! It’s neat to see what changes were made as these cars were still being produced in Mexico. Note the lack of chrome trim and side moldings, black mirrors, no crescent vent behind the rear window, painted headlight rings, bumpers with integrated turn signals - not to mention a more updated modern interior. It has a 1600cc fuel injected engine with hydraulic lifters !! with swing axle transmission. Car also has a 3-way catalytic converter, and single outlet exhaust.
VW continued production of the original air-cooled beetle in Mexico all the way up to the 2004 model year, ending production with a special “Ultima Edicion” (Final Edition) of which only 3000 were made. This particular beetle is a 1998 Mexican production beetle installed on a new 1968 pan. There were a few companies that made a business out of importing Mexican cars throughout the years, I do not know which one imported this one.
Passenger Door panel looks a bit rumpled, minor bubble blemish on roof rain guard, factory alarm system, center console and cup holder !!
