1971 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

Beautiful 1971 VW Westfalia Pop Top Bus for sale.

Bought this VW bus in 2019 from a mechanic who had been fixing it up and kept it running well.

I’ve only put about 8,000 miles on it in the time that I’ve owned it and when it’s not being used, it’s stored in a garage.

I’m selling it because I'm moving, I don’t drive it enough, and feel that someone else could use it and really enjoy it the way it deserves!

I’m not sure how many miles the vehicle itself has been through but the new engine put in only has a little over 12,000 miles on it.

It has had:

A rebuilt factory correct 1600cc dual port engine with new vw engine block.

Upgraded cylinder heads and new carburetor.

Electronic ignition upgrade installed.

Professionally rebuilt transmission by VW specialist.

New brakes front and rear.

New wheel bearings front and rear and seals, including rebuilt front calipers, new German rear wheel cylinders, all new rubber brake lines, new master cylinder and brake vacuum servo.

New cv axles.

KYB gas adjust rear shocks.

KYB GR2 front shocks.

Newer battery.

All new tires (plus the spare) and I just had the oil changed.

Accessory Westfalia stool included (fairly rare).

Pop top canvas (has a cot up there) is good but may need to redo the wood frame at some point and the hinges need replacing but it’s still functional as is.

Original child’s cot that fits above front seat and rear snap in bug screen are included.

Window shades included.

New CD player with Bluetooth and radio.

Extra new kick panels included.

Full set of five silver stock wheels included.

Rear shelf above bed included but not pictured.

Sink/icebox unit included but not pictured in the bus as I took it out for extra space.

All lights and signals work properly (rear reverse light was just fixed).

The drivers seat fabric is coming apart a bit but is functionally still fine.

There is a small tear in the backseat fabric (you can see in the picture).

Have a 3″ memory foam mattress pad that’s rolled up and being stored under the seat behind the driver that is included.

There are two tire blocks (pictured sitting at the foot of the passenger side) to help block the tires when parked on hills as a precaution.

Needs: new hinges and at some point wood framing on the pop top, a new cabinet handle under bench seat, fuel filter, fiber block, and v/p switch (I was told these are relatively easy and cheap parts, will mostly cost for labor to fix). Needs a bit of TLC on the inside. Doesn’t need any major mechanical repairs though.

Took it on a 6,000 mile road trip around the west coast/midwest '21 summer and it ran great with absolutely no problems. It’s ready as-is to go on more adventures!
