Up for sale is a not so stock 1974 VW thing. Fully Street Legal, registered, inspected, insured in NC CLEAN TITLE. I have not seen another thing like this, you will be one of a kind with this vehicle!
Completely built into a baja pre-runner, ready to take you on the dunes, through trails, or on the Streets. Everything has been touched and or built on this! The Body was removed for the entire chassis/structure to be assembled. It is constructed out of High Strength Steel (HSS) DOM 4130 tubing, making this thing extremely strong. Entire tube chassis and cage, from front to rear bumper. To start off, the body is fully bed lined inside and out. Exterior is white raptor liner giving this vehicle an extremely strong, durable, and easy surface to clean. While the interior is black raptor liner. (Just painted 06/22)
Engine and Transmission- Engine is a CB Performance 1776 dp with a 1.5L dry sump and vented valve covers.- Paired with a weber 40 IDF & top deck filter.- Cb performance air intake adapter- New CB performance MagnaSpark distributor (installed 06/22)- CB Performance Sand Seal and pulley (installed 07/22)- Remote oil and Fuel filter ran with A/N lines. (Both changed 07/22)- 12v alternator conversion* High Torque soCal import starter- Brand new Exedy stage 1 clutch, Throw out bearing, and Pressure plate. (Installed 05/22)- HD SwayAway Axles- Brand new marine grade ignition. (07/22)- Custom Magna Flow side winder exhaust- Custom 16 gallon rear mounted fuel cell
Brakes- The vehicle is set up using all JAMAR performance parts (new pads 05/22) It is set up for Baja, meaning the back brakes are 4 piston calipers, and front being 2 piston calipers.- For pedal assembly dual Brake, and clutch master cylinders are top mounted which come down from under the hood compartment. A hole was cut and mounted down, this was to supply enough braking power to the 4 calipers. All brake lines are copper, with recently rebuilt rear calipers.
Suspension and Wheel- Wheels are really nice 15 inch method racing wheels wrapped in new 33" TOYO open country A/T.- Shocks are 2.0 King racing. Long travel shocks* Suspension Limit straps as well to prevent over extension while vehicle articulates.
Other:- Brand new Empi bucket racing seats on new raised seat rails. With bench seat in the rear.- All electrical has been redone(7/22). LED turn signals, LED headlights, LED brake lights- GPS speedometer- Lowrance GPS fish finder that is used for vehicle navigation/location- Blue top AGM optima battery relocated behind drivers seat.- Custom heavy duty tow bar that has a standard 2” ball receiver.
Things that need attention- Brake pressure balance needs to be adjusted, could use some new rotors. Brake pads are NEW (comes with caliper pressure gauge kit to adjust all calipers)- Shocks are tired, and need to be rebuilt/filled with nitrogen. Since these are off road shocks, they are to be rebuilt instead of just buying new ones. (Comes with one brand new rear one, and a new rear rebuild kit) (shown in picture is the box of rear shock parts.)- Passenger side pan where battery sat started to rust (battery has been relocated to driver side) this was previously patched, but with a plate of ABS.- Typical Thing rusting (but NO structural rot) locations. (hood, Front firewall, and rear wheel wells(doors are good!)). Can send pictures upon request.- Rear wheel wells have mud flaps protecting the open cuts from when body was modified for the cage
Like 90% of old Volkswagens it needs some work to be perfect. I drive this almost every day! It is turn key ready, and starts/runs every time. Always kept in a garage, never left outside. This is an awesome one of a kind project car for someone else to have fun with.
