Description:
1970 Volkswagen dune buggy
Nostalgic dune buggy / street buggy. Also called "street roadsters" of the 1970's in a Hot Rod Magazine article published 1970.Built by Stowe Webber in Pasadena, CA 1970.
Based on a shortened 1964 VW pan, with a 1966, four cylinder 1300 cc motor in good condition.
It is street legal and fully drivable.
There is no rust in the pan, the body is very solid and has no cracks.
The dune buggy was parked inside a garage 1989. (Pulled out in 2015 to be serviced and updated then driven 50 miles before parked again, due to lack of time).
I bought it 2021 and resurrected / personalized it during the course of a few months.
I had the engine serviced and tuned, and the carburetor rebuilt at Kombi Haus, Sacramento, CA.
I replaced the windshield, installed vintage 8" wide Cragar S/S rear wheels with brand new Good Year Poly Glas tires, and 5" wide vintage Fenton S/S wheels with brand new Vredestein tires up front. I painted it and installed new racing seats.
The buggy still has the original seat belts, and even the original VW rubber floor mats.
It has an original Hurst shifter, Talbot mirrors and turning brake.
Steering linkage, steering damper and shock absorbers have less than 500 miles on them.
The lights and horn work, it has no blinkers.
This is my daily driver street car that I have a lot of fun in. It has never let me down. People love it.
I have a lot of documents and receipts from when the original owner had it and worked on it, also enclosed you see a vintage picture of the buggy.
If you appreciate nostalgic vintage original dune buggy history, this is right up your alley.
Feel free to ask me for more picture or / and information.
It is titled, registered and insured in my name in Sacramento, CA
Thanks - and good luck bidding / H
