Description:

1984 Volkswagen Scirocco Karman

Although located in Michigan it has never been run in the winter and only been outside of Florida for 3 months, so no worries about salt damage from our lovely roads!
This rust free 1984 Volkswagen Scirocco is finished in white over blue and features a 1.8-liter inline fuel injected four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The seller recently acquired the car from a Florida seller and drove it to Michigan. The previous owner purchased it from a local air-cooled VW specialist shop in 2017, and work since included replacing the water pump, the fuel distributor, a front wheel bearing, the front brake calipers, CV boots, front tires were replaced in 2018. Additional work included replacement of the front brake rotors, pads, calipers, and soft lines, along with the left rear wheel cylinder. A new left lower ball joint, inner and outer CV boots, and steering rack boots were then installed prior to a front wheel alignment (as described on the attached receipts).
Features include manual windows, seven-spoke alloy wheels, a roof rack, manually-adjustable bucket seats, and an aftermarket CD stereo. A custom roof rack with wood slats resides up top, and the car is not equipped with a sunroof.
This Mk 2 Scirocco is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The car shows wear consistent with being 36 years old, however the body is excellent with only a few easily addressed blemishes. A quarter-inch scratch with some corrosion on the front driver’s fender, as well as another spot near the Scirocco badge at the rear.
Sale includes new parts purchased for the vehicle including interior trim pieces (heater control slider knobs (2), crank case gasket set, door handle gaskets, misc. light bulbs, transmission guide bushings, breather valve, oil filter, oil pump, oil pan, fuel cap, air filter and window crank handles). These were parts that the Owner noted was needed for the vehicle to be a daily driver and has not had an opportunity to install.
Vehicle has a rough idle from lack of use. Seller purchased it in February of 2020 and didn't pick it up until November of 2020. A good cleaning of the recently replaced air flow sensor (see previous owner's receipts in the galley) or fuel injectors is likely needed. A driving video can be seen at https://youtu.be/Y-cpMudOKhU After 22 hours of straight driving on I-95 the 5th gear would not engage for the last 100 miles. Web search suggests low transaxle fluid level, however the reserve price is low to compensate for this. Vehicle ran extremely straight and held the road well. Selling due to other time commitments. Many options for a rare vehicle in this condition with many parts readily available in the US and oversees to restore, drive "as is" or turn it into a track vehicle.
Great bones here!
