WHY ARE WE SELLING?
My wife and I love this car but we will be building a house this upcoming year and will not have a place to store it. Sad to see her go, but it’s time to let this unbelievable car go to its next home. We have several VW’s and we are VW enthusiasts to the core, but we can’t keep them all. Our loss is your gain!!
This car is not a daily driver, but it does run, shift through all the gears, and drive. It will need the restoration we began to be completed before it is road worthy, and we simply don’t have the time right now or else we would definitely finish this beauty. WHAT DOES IT NEED?
This car is about as good as you will find for a straightforward, inexpensive project to finish.The body is good with very minimal rust, and the chassis is solid. We recently towed it with a tow bar (connects to front axle and makes the car a trailer that can be pulled by another vehicle)almost 300 miles with no issues. It runs but needs a tune-up as it doesn’t idle well.We have taken it out to drive a few times and it shifts through all the gears without a problem. Recently we found that the brakes were not working, which is most likely the brake master cylinder needing replacement – these are just $34 on eBay and very easy to replace.
Although the body and chassis are in good shape, the heater channels, rocker panels, and the metal tray behind the rear seat (above the engine) are rotted and should be repaired or replaced.
AN ARTISTIC FLOOR!! A previous owner removed the old floor pans and built most of an entire new floor using metal traffic signs and license plates.See the photos. You can choose to finish the floors this way, or we would be happy to sell you 2 new replacement floor pans at our cost (about $190/each). The driver’s seat is attached to this floor, but the passenger’s seat has not yet been attached.
The headliner is in reasonable condition with some minor rips here and there. The rear seat had some tears at the very top, so we fixed the entire top with black duct tape. See photo. You may want to finish it off with an inexpensive seat cover instead.
There may be other minor things we are not aware of, but we have tried to be as thorough as possible in our description.
ALMOST EVERYTHING THIS CAR NEEDS IS SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD TO REPAIR!!
