1987 VW Vanagon Syncro

1987 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

Overview: This is a 1987 VW vanagon syncro. I've been driving it daily for the past few months but it's predominantly been used as a weekend warrior. It has a weekender interior in decent shape with upgraded laminate flooring. The body is in average condition but needs some work around the drivers side wheel well, drivers side rear, and on the drivers side step sill. Other than that the car is very dry with no frame rust what so ever. It was repainted in a porsche guards red which is not perfect but does clean up well. All lights as well as Tachometer and speedometer work. Brakes stop as expected. 225/75/R16 dynapro AT2 tires are installed on 16 inch steel wheels. They are a bit noisy on pavement but do great off road.

The vehicle runs well with its original 2.1 waterboxer which is still in good shape but will require an idle air control vavle for better cold starts. Has no leaks. Recently had the waterpump, alternator, and water cooling pipe changed. It only packs 90hp but if fairly peppy and cruises on a flat highway all day at 70-75mph. The Van does come with a rear locker that functions great, and does shift through all gears smoothly. However the viscous coupling in the front diff has tested bad and will need replaced (currently driving fine with driveshaft out). New front lobro cv axles, and joints were recently installed with the back cv's regreased in the last few years. Also replaced were the steering rack boots, tie rod ends, and upper ball joints.
Heater blower works great in all 3 settings but rear heater and a/c were deleted before my ownership. A modern sony bluetooth head unit is set in place. Comes with yakima roof bars.
