1981 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

A classic timeless van for strange times. The fact is that people are going out more and this van makes it super easy to do so. I got it in January and I have been working on it since, but times are tough. I am a bar and venue owner and my businesses have been negatively impacted by covid. I have no more juice to put into this project but I have already sunk a couple grand. I am selling at a loss just to stay a float. 2.0 Bosch Aircooled EngineHere is what I have done- replaced distributor, plugs, wires, air cleaner and vacuum hose, replaced bulbs and cleaned up rusted terminals in the signals $400. Ed Jones VW in Wichita completed this work. The shop is listed on Road Haus and has great ratings- replaced battery $140- had an interior shop install a new GoWesty tent ($250) and install a new vinyl headliner and replace one door panel as well as rebuild a rotted bow in the caper too and reseal all bolts with resin etc. $1080Things to do.The shift linkage needs to be replaced but you have to drop the gas tank to do so. When you drop the tank you might as well reseal it and get a new fuel send. Because the gas gauge doesn’t work. It probably could use new seals and gaskets and fuel lines etc. the local vw guy estimated this at $500-700.Minor rust here and there but generally in good shapeProbably could use new suspension all around but certainly is functional. Springs, shocks, cv joints. All could be addressed.Eventually a top end rebuild of the engine but he starts right up and has lots of power despite a small oil leak.I haven’t checked out the camp stove, fridge or sink but if it was me I was going to yank the fridge for extra storage.Buyer arranges shipping. All sales final. I have detailed photos of the camper top work.
