1977 Convertible Beetle. Needs engine work & top. My loss your gain.Clean title

1977 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

OK. So, I bought this around this time in 2016 and spend the summer trying to get it to run.I pulled and resealed the gas tank, replaced all the fuel lines, and fuel pump., fuel gauge float.New throttle cable.I replaced the computer (It's fuel injected) the double relay, the ignition switch and the Mass air flow sensor.I tested the injectors and they worked.I got it started and drove it around the block once... it smoked like hell!I parked it and couldn't start it again.I got so frustrated I moved on to another project.Every spring I drain the fuel and spend a few hours trying to start it.I also, POR'd the floor pans, but they could use some attention.
When I bought it the interior had been replaced about 5 years before and it sat in the garage.I have the trunk lid, rear seat and the rear carpet in the shed.Great project and would basically be ready for the road with a new motor.Paint has some bubbles in the usual places, but it pretty darn nice.
