VW Diesel Vanagon Westfalia Camper
1982 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Camper
1982 VW Vanagon Westfalia Full Camper.
I have 2 VW Campers which is 1 too many, so this one is going to a new home.
It is in very good shape for a 37 year old vehicle. There are many new parts all within the last 500 miles
Clutch
Front brakes
Front brake rotors
Tie rod ends
Upper ball joints
Stainless steel braided flex brake lines
New glow plugs
Newer main and aux batteries
New shock absorbers
A 1.6 VW Turbodiesel engine from a VW Quantum is installed, it runs very strong, not like the original naturally aspirated 1.6 diesel. This one will actually climb hills without bogging down., Stainless steel coolant pipes have been installed.
Also included are 15 inch VW wheels to lower RPMs and increase ground clearance. The centers need to be bored out to clear the front hubs. Bus Depot awning, GoWesty color match outdoor carpet and GoWesty "box" for additional storage or port-a-potty are included. Complete screens for all windows- including the front windows. Rain Fly for the poptop tent included Load rated General Altimax 14" tires with plenty of tread left. An auxiliary battery is installed under the drivers seat with a charging isolation relay which providers electricity for the camper lights and chargers for electronic devices. All the original window curtains are present, some have minor wear.
Points that are not 100%:
Mice got into the van at one point. It has been treated and deodorized, but a sensitive nose might be able to tell.
Do to the previous mouse problem the pop-top tent has some repair patches but is 100% serviceable.
The original refrigerator works, when it wants to. Stove, sink and battery panel work.
An approximately 8 inch section of seam on the left rear ¼ panel bubbled, it has been treated for rust and touched up. The section has ben stable for the last 5 years since the repair.
There are some stains on the upholstery. Patch on bed cushion
The interior is original and the original "contact paper" is peeling and shrinking is some areas.
Minor oil dribbles when parked.
For a van in the Northeast it is exceptionally rust free (except for the repaired seam). It has never seen a winter under my ownership and I do not think it did under the previous owners.
The car check shows a minor title problem, that is from the Ohio ownership. I was told it is because at one time Ohio did not recognize 6 digit odometer readings. I have clear NY title. Current milage is 130,557 which to the best of my knowledge is true and correct.
Also included in the sale is a pallet of parts from the engine conversion including the original VW 1.6 NA engine and all the accessories.
