Description:
1956 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic So. Cal. Look
I'veowned this bug since 1994 and stripped it down tothe metal soon after. The bug was originallyowned by Rich Hoffman, a good friend, and race car driver, who owned Import Specialties. So Rich had done a lotbeforeI found it. I knew it was a tricked and that was a major reason why I purchased it AND that it was sitting and not driven. He had put the 56 bodyon 71 chassis so it could accommodatea heartier engine and the chassis upgrades likeCB adjustable beam with Karmin Ghia Disc Brakes andchromed Koni roadshocks. Rich generouslysold it to another friendwho had this great engine that needed a home. And then a few yearslater I found it sitting and undriven. The new VWCyber green paint was applied in 2001. In 2015, the engine was pulled and freshened up with new heads and ceramic heads and Petronic ignition. The carburetor jets were resized. After the rework, the 1776 cuin was Dynoed by Rich and produced 125 hp. So here are all the things added over the years. Unfornatually the car is still sitting but is almost always covered and garaged. The cover does comes with the car.Interior:SewFine Colorado Seats, door panels, and tweed headliner, roll bar KSR Kevin Shull Racing------------ok, a little overkill. 3way Retractableseat belts,Gene Berg quick shifter, GT Formula steering wheel, new wiring harness, speed control wipers, Halon Extinguisher, Audio Sys with USB attachment and Custom speaker boxes painted cyber green (overkill), new pans on the 71 chassis and all stainless steel brake line, electric Bolt locks on doors that need work.
Engine: 1776 displacementAS41 Magnesium case w/ doghouse air sys. and new CB 044 big value Heads with Gene Berg swivel rockers, Weber dual 40 with CB throttle attachment, Engles 110 cam, Bosch 009 distributor w/Pertronic ignition, external oil filter, and custom engine support by Hoffman. The engine breathes through Empi ceramic headers and Single Quiet Pak muffler (that I punched a hole in).
The body was de-chromedand over the years, has obtained a few dings, one on the apron along with a paint blister, cracked paint on passengerdoor that'shard to see, teeth marks on the bulletturn single (that was from a large Akita named Beast) and small hole where trim use to fit. The doorhinged need replacement. Driver seat needs some rework. All easyfixes. So, This is an older restoration that was done right and included wiring harness, all rubber seals and even stainless steel nuts and bolts when possible. The asking price is far less than what was invested. Thanks for looking.
