1964 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic euro model

greetings here is a 1964 vw bug with 1776 engine has dual carbs from empi.was my fathers car in California for many year, was painted by a friend of fathers with no spray booth.it is a twenty foot paint job at best. one could compound the blue paint an expose the white original paint.however the engine cover appears to have been replaced it is a red color under neath the blue.this car was my semi daily driver for 2 years, newer parts include -new tank, new rear drums -new steering box (Brazilian)-new wheel bearings on front-new wheel cylinder all four-new rubber brake lines-new shifter bushings-new motor mounts -new clutch -new clutch cable-new electronic ignition-new eletric fuel pump and fuel regulator-new parking light holders-new wipers. i am sure i have replaced other items also.there are a few Issues to be addressed-- the rear body panel has been damaged and a very poor repair was made years ago, there is supposed to be a seal there to prevent engine over heating but i have never had a problem with this i think the low empi dual exhaust keeps some heat away and the remote oil cooler helps alsohelps . i have taken several long trips and over heating was not an issue. the front sheet metal has a little damage also. the sunroof has missing parts and does open and close with a push from your hand. the locking steering /ignition on column is not working, there is an ignition switch on dash that is correct for non euro models.the locking front hood doesnt work because of body damage but all components are there. the horn doesnt work because of custom steering wheel but is bolted in place and is 12 volt. the doors dont lock with key, club lock included with sale. the speedometer does not work . the courtesy lights do not work will need new front drums soon. missing front over riders for euro bumper. has the usual battery pan area rot but not too ba, rest of pan in great shape
Now for the good stuff-engine runs strong clutch and trans are good- engine very peppy in 2nd and 3rdgear. cruising speed on highway 65 to 70 mph. stock ride height never been lowered.all lights work except courtesy lights. has high back seats from 1970s bug, fuel gauge works,12 volt generator works well. some spare parts include, 2 throttle cables 1 clutch cable a heater hose a rubber wing vent seal for passenger side door, a cheapy gasket set for 1600cc a spare belt and the original tools for lug nuts/generator nut, also has original jack in front along with a brand new spare tire that actually fits with hood closed. sad to see it go but its just not a practical car for hauling lumber or loads of people. hope it goes to a vw person that will be happy with it,reserve is priced just above nada fair value for this year with sunroof. i have original service records that show car was bought in germany driven there until late 1965 then shipped to Arizona usa last service date is stamped Pima arizona vw dealership in 1968, most likely shipped over hear by a us servicemen. North Carolina buyers you can keep the year of manufacture license plate all others i will retain the plate. local buyers you are welcome to come and take a look.buyer responsible for shipping, i can help load no problem, can store hear for free for a week . this vehicle is sold as is where is there is no implied warranty. more pics if you need them. i have been extremely honest in my description but its an old car and there may be something i misse, but i doubt it, good luck and happy bidding
