Offered for an appreciating new ownerat NO RESERVE is this ONE-OWNER classic 1971 VW Squareback!
Finished in what looks to be the original pale yellow paint over black interior, this little VW was purchased new right here in Redwood City, California almost a half century ago by the now 85 year-old owner. The non-working five-digit odometer reads 41,180 miles so the actual miles cannot be confirmed. It sports an excellent running flat four cylinder engine with original fuel-injection and the factory 4 speed manual transmission, newer stereo, reclining bucket seats, manual crank windows and original chrome hub caps with good rubber. It is being sold with clean & clear California title, current registration, original keys AND...the original owner's manual along with the stamped maintenance book.
Offered here at NO RESERVE, this is a fabulous find for about the cost of the sales tax alone on a new GTI!
THE BODY AND TRIM
This exterior of this blue California license plate 1971 VW is in quite original, somewhat tattered condition overall with nicks, bruises, twisted bumpers, missing beltline trim, thin/worn paint and a couple of small corrosion spots including two touched up areas along the base of the windshield. The underside of the car is quite clean an dry as well. And.....YES, it has lots of patina but gets a solid A- for originality!
THE INTERIOR
As I hope is articulated in the photos, the interior of this little Squareback is in quite original and also fairly tattered condition overall. The lights, blinkers, horn, dash lights all work. The stereo fires up but emits no sound, the carpets, headliner and rear hatch mat are worn with frayed fabric, the dash is still quite presentable and the seats have a sewn-on cover. Also the seat back is stuck and non-adjustable. With its original steering wheel and groovy old gauges, this is one cool classic cockpit!
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
This 1971 VeeDub fires up instantly with very good running fuel-injected engine, crisp-shifting 4 speed manual transmission, excellent straight braking and solid suspension with good down the road tracking! This is a groovy little classic driving machine that gets lots of attention!
