Price: - Item location: Broomfield, Colorado, United States
Description:

1984 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

I don't want to sell this van but my wife and daughter are making me! They want something more modern and if I can't get my family in it to go camping anymore, then it defeats the point of owning it. Such is life.
This is a 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia "pop top" camper that sleeps four (or 5 if your kids are small enough to fit 3 up top like we used to). It has 155k miles on the original engine and runs so good, my dad can't believe it drives better than when he was taking us on road trips in it 30 years ago.
Original upholstery, stock curtain package and both beds are still comfortable.Front seats swivel completely around for family game time etc. Bug screen included for rear of van so you can sleep with the back door open. All four burners work on the stove.
Manual transmission, just passed smog a few months ago and it is ready for a road trip. This van is sold as is and I am happy to work with you on getting it shipped to your location at buyer's expense.
Contact me for more pictures, a video of it starting/running as well as the full CarFax report.
Below is a list of upgrades and projects I completed on it as well as ones I never got to. Most of the parts came from GoWesty.com.
Upgrades/Repairs:
Spark plugs, wires and distributor cap replaced
Headers and exhaust pipes replaced
Timing belt and many coolent lines replaced
Oxygen sensor, heater core switch, air filter, fuel filter and fuel pump replaced
Oil sensor replaced, fuel filter upgrade kit installed
Trunk door struts replaced
Locking gas cap added
Headlight switch replaced
Red LED lights installed for instrument cluster
Engine compartment seal replaced
Level sensor on coolent tank replaced
Gas tank rebuild/reseal kit installed
New Super Start battery
Added front fog/running lights
New Brake Master Cylinder with steal braided brake lines (brakes are tight, better than ever)
Tie rods replaced
Home built center storage console installed
2" Tow Hitch added
All stereo speakers replaced
New Bluetooth in dash receiver and antenna
Rear carpet replaced as well as sliding door reupholstered
Old propane tank removed and stove adapted for small camping propane tanks
Skylight removed, replaced with fixed plexiglass
Tear in "pop top" canvas repaired with same material patch
Refrigerator removed to create more storage (never worked that good, even when new)
Projects to get to:
Replace side view mirrors (functional but cracked)
Replace hanger clip for passenger visor (visor stays up but not clipped in)
Repair both front door locks (both lock fine with key but can't be locked by hand from inside)
Replace front blower fan switch and blower fan
Replace broken sink faucet
Replace windshield (crack is thankfully below the driver's sight line down by dash, as seen in pictures)
Trim piece for thermostatadjustments needs to be glued down
Faucet is broken and needs to be replaced, but sink drains fine
Faucet water pump may or may not work, never been checked
Worth noting:
Van was painted with a roller by me with BEHR Premium Plus High Gloss Enamel four years ago and still looks great (The remainder of a gallon of the actual paint, will be included for touch ups)
Oil drips a few times a month (like almost all Vanagons)
Speedometer is off by 10 miles/hour (don't know why but easy mental adjustment)
Bug screen on "pop top" is getting worn out in spots and has been sewn together as needed
Bug screen for rear door works great but has some tears along edge as seen in photos.
