1973 VW thing, original paint

1973 Volkswagen Thing

This 1973 Thing was purchased new at Humphries Motors in Hayward, CA. It stayed in Hayward its whole life. It has the dealer packet, frames, and original blue plates. This is an original paint survivor, in its original color Sunshine Yellow. It came accessorized with a radio, dash electrical outlet, roll bar, side decals, and tow hitch. The tow hitch is still new in the box, never installed. Roll bar is included. This thing has been kept entirely original as possible. Great care was taken with the engine when it was rebuilt 400 miles ago. All of the tin was kept original paint with factory markings. The carb was re-bushed and the original vw exhaust was ceramic coated. All smog equipment is intact although disabled. The engine is original to the car and has a build sheet. The heads are new and have been dis-assembled and given a proper angle grind. All guards are in place. The fuel system was gone through with a new tank, and the gas heater cleaned and calibrated. The clutch tube has been welded in the tunnel and operates smoother than new. The brakes have been gone through. It has the original toolkit and plastic top guards. The rear canvas top hold down straps are original as well. The radio speaker is missing for some reason as well as the side curtains. I believe they were stolen at some point in its life. There is a scrape in the front right fender and a small dent in engine lid. I put on a set of baby bfg tires years ago. They are no longer available and are slightly oversized, the suspension is bone stock. Has original key.
