1967 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Double Cab Crew Cab

For sale is an early 1967 VW double cab (no reverse lights like the 1966 and earlier) made in Germany. Health conditions force reluctant sale.

This truck has had professional Classic Fabrication, aka Funky Green, metal replacement about 10 years ago and was painted soon afterward. Lower nose, and inner and outer valance, lower doglegs, lower A, B and C pillars, inner and outer rockers as well as jack points and some attaching structure. Rear corners are in great condition as is the battery tray. Front and rear bumpers are also in great condition. Driver's side floor was also replaced at the same time. The lower floor underneath the bed is in overall good condition but does have a few very small areas of rust which I have tried to show in the pictures. Original heat tube is present and still wrapped with original insulation. The turquoise and white body paint is in very good condition with very few blemishes. Roof and drip rail are in excellent condition. All new interior door cards and roof panels. Recently installed a working oem dome light over the back seat. Izzy Safari windows installed, passenger window does have a crack however. Rebuilt stock spindles. New door rubber in drivers and passenger doors including new vent wing rubber. Original black vent wing locks. Lower back seat cover is torn at the entry point but otherwise seat coverings are fine. Seat cover material is black, not the mesh grey variety. Center pin was replaced. Electrically everything is in working order. The suspension is stock with like new tires. Speedometer replaced when body work was done and driven 1500 miles since restoration. Completely new brake system including master cylinder, brake shoes, drums turned, new wheel cylinders and soft brake lines. New front and rear shocks as well. Transmission has been rebuilt, does not leak, shifts fine and does not pop of any gear. Engine and transmission rebuilt by Kelly at The Bug Stop, a local shop here that performs excellent work and has a great reputation. Engine completely rebuilt with a new case about 11 years ago but has relatively low miles and is a smooth running 1600 single port. I estimate no more than a total of 4000 miles on the rebuilt engine. Truck comes with canvas Tilt, steel hoops and wood slats which are aftermarket but fit well. Wood slats are pine and of average quality. Steel Hoops do not have caps like the factory ones. The wood slats fit between the steel hoops and are held in place with a simple screw. Canvas was treated with appropriate water repellent when new and does not have any rips or holes and has minimal staining. The plastic rear window in the canvas is in great condition, not cracked or foggy. Gates are in good condition but not razor straight. There is some body filler in the inner lower rear gate which you should be able to see in the pictures. A replacement OG VW ignition switch is installed but bus comes with original ignition switch if you want to install so that the same key works on doors and ignition. Matching numbers on the VIN plate, rear body stamp ad M code plate. There is a 12 volt power port installed under parcel tray for cell phone charging or GPS etc.

This is a good looking crew cab but not perfect. Bus is a daily driver category, runs and drives good for its age. I have driven it sparingly over the last nine years without a problem but it is a 50 plus year old vehicle. If you're looking for a crew cab in very good but not perfect condition this bus may be for you. New owner should be very happy with this double cab.
