You know what, you don't need to commit a lot of time, money, and YouTube views to hashtag Van Life. There are a lot of pretty cool options out there to get your feet wet, see which direction you want to go with your hashtag Van Life, and then continue on your journey.
Here's a pretty good option for that: my 1993 Volkswagen EuroVan MV Weekender. It's a legit Westfalia trim, with a lightweight polycarbonate pop-top for a full-size bed up top, and a comfortable cabin to lounge. Extras are included to improve your experience.
Extras and upgrades:

Obviously this thing has seen many years of use. It was a fair-weather vehicle in the American South for a long time and has the sun fades and cracks to prove it. In my care it has seen year-round use in more rugged environments. The motor runs strong but has a reground and surfaced head. The rear vents have been sealed off in order to make better use of the system given the deterioration of the fitment foam in the tubing. Some of the interior panels have cracks from sun exposure. There's a bit of glue here and there. The canvas on the pop-top could use a replacement, but it's certainly liveable.
Plenty of storage exists for all your miscellaneous stuff, and the captain's chairs make it extremely comfortable to drive. It was never very fast, or very quiet, but it will cruise the highways forever.
Manual everything. A/C blows cold. Cruises at 60mph really well, and up to 75 without running out of gear in 5th.
