1961 Convertible volkswgaen bug for sale. Clear WI title in my name. The Body, Pan and title VIN numbers match.
The car is not perfect, but a preesentable fun car for a enthusiast who appreciates its old time character and idiosyncrosies that come with old car ownership. Expect to have to tinker with it. If your expecting a car you can get in and drive cross country home and do nothing but change the oil for 5 years, this car (and old cars in general) are not for you.
that said, i beleive this is a nice car to drive and enjoy as is with some TLC, dialing in and detailing. Solid to drive safely as is but if your looking to make a show car, plan on redoing and/ or massaging most sheet metal in some facet to meet todays resto standards and make it an investment grade automobile.

Stock 1200cc fresh air 40hp (not Original to car). 6 volt system, everything electrical functions even the washer squirter and radio. Stock height on new 165r15 radials.
repainted the original to the car VW Poppy Red color in the early 90's. 10 footer, driver quality paint job that used some aftermarket panels/ bondo on the midwest rust repair done at that time. Small metal tubing was welded on instead of the correct heater channel reinforcement channel and flat sheetmetal used for floor pan patches. some rust through still exists on the rear shock tower area and the rear bumper brackets. probably pin holes in the heater channel and front firewall area present. again, not perfect but was fixed back then to drive and enjoy.
Paint Could use a good color sanding and buff job. few dings and scuffs around the car. Top is in pretty good shape, a couple small tears and some dirt spots on it i havent tried to get out.
Last fall I got it up and running from 15 years of sitting. New fuel lines, rebuilt reserve valve, brake lines & shoes, wheel cylinders, cleaned up some electric issues, rebuilt front spindles and new shocks and tires. need the steering box adjusted/ replaced as its a little sticky side to side ad/ or an alignment. there is a dim glow on the red generator idiot light at idle, due to the resistance in the old wiring, common to 6v Vws.
40hp runs well. I just tuned it up with a rebuilt carb and fuel pump, plugs etc.endplay feels good but the number of miles on it and overall condition is undocumented. It does drip oil, like they all do.
stock trans shifts ok and doesnt pop out of gear.I only have about 50 miles on it since i fixed it, so expect some small issues that still need remedy, some dialing in and some work to be done. i drove it about 60mph and it drives like an old car with 40 horsepower. slow and doesnt like the interstate or hills.
Interior shows well. correct seat frames recovered 30 years ago but are pretty clean and comfortable. OG door panels in good shape. headliner is kinda flappy and could be reglued, detailed out. Windows need some adjustment to roll up and down smoothly and to seal perfectly.
