This restoration is approaching completion, so I encourage interested buyers to jump on this quickly as I have yet to finish the interior, giving you an opportunity to customize. It's not quite show quality but is very nice. New PPG 2 stage turquoise paint inside and out, all items removed for paint. New German door seals, hood seal, decklid and engine seal, convertible-only rubber. Haartz Stayfast canvas top still in good condition with maple header bows. Rebuilt window regulators, front end, brakes, suspension, floor pans repaired using German steel, EVERYTHING wiring works and will have illuminated map lights for both driver and passenger, as well as rope lighting illuminating the engine for night time viewing and/or repairs. The engine is a crate replacement from Brazil which has been gone through. 1600cc dual port with zero end play and 140 ft/lbs of compression on all 4 cylinders. Transaxle is a perfect original out of a 1979 with a higher 4th gear for better freeway fuel mileage. It is very difficult to drive this car and be in a hurry, because many, many people will want to have long conversations about it and attempt to buy it or trade for it. I have been an air-cooled Volkswagen mechanic for 20 years, and if you are local, I will happily do maintenance and repairs for you, as experienced air cooled mechanics are a dying breed.
