1967 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

This 1967 VW Double cab pickup comes out of the estate of my late father. It was a long term restoration project that started as a favor to a friend. The truck was originally sold in Washington state, and taken on a fery to Orcas island. It spent its entire life there racking up the current mileage in short trips( the island is very small). In 1996 my dad's friend purchased a home on the island and the truck came with it. After the passing of my dad's friend, his wife sold the home, and asked us to please come get the truck and restore it in honor of her husband.
When we received the truck it had suffered a great deal of rust damage from the salt air and living on the island. We stripped the truck, and had a master body man replace all of the damaged sheet metal with German repair panels. The entire lower section below the waist line is new, and has been properly ( per the old factory manuals) but and lap welded, then leaded. The chassis was then prepped for paint and something like 3 gallons of base and clear coat were applied then hand sanded and buffed.
The entire truck was painted in parts, cut then reassembled and buffed. The under side of the chassis was cleaned with wire brush( by hand!), then washed and had two coats of body schutz( yes I know its not original, but the idea was to make this a driving restoration of the highest quality). The transaxle and engine were hand cleaned and the tin repainted to match original. The original exhaust was shot blasted and painted with exact match German exhaust paint( used for early Porsche restorations).
All of the glass was reinstalled, and is the original factory glass that came installed in the truck. New German seals( where we could find them, otherwise reproductions). New factory reproduction upholstery with new horsehair was installed. Reproduction door panels and headliner panels were sourced from a small company in the Pacific NW that makes identical to factory. Hardware and stops were replace with factory or perfect reproductions.
The engine was bench fired and run after a thorough cleaning and valve adjustment. The engine is 100% factory down to the carb settings.
Brakes were replaced with factory linings and cylinders. In the installation, it was noted that one "s" tube on the left front brake needs to be replaced still. New factory reproduction seals on the front axles, swing axle, and rear wheel bearings we done at the same time.
Yes, all of the remaining parts are included( factory hubcaps, trim, and rear floor mat. We are missing the spare wheel. Tires are brand new reproductions that are period correct Bias ply.
In short, no expense was spared to restore this truck. It was to be a statement to my fathers friend. Now I hope it will be a statement to both of these great men.
Unfortunately, my father passed away last January and this project did not get completed before his passing. It lacks VERY little to be complete, but I do not have the time, or the emotional strength to complete it. I would like to see this truck go to someone who will care enough to complete the project, and enjoy it as much as he would have.
Please, no tire kickers. If you are a serious buyer and have questions, I will do my very best to answer anything you ask. I do not wish for this to be a fire sale, as I do have an idea of what this truck is worth, but it need to go to a good home, and I am willing to be reasonable with the right buyer.
