Description:

1970 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Stock

The motor was originally built by Pat Tafta for me, in Donalds, SC in 2004. It is a mild performance stock motor with a 20 mm Engle cam. With the dual Kadron carbs and stock muffler, it has a nice, deeper stock sound, but is not too loud. Approximate horsepower I was told may be 80, but I never tested it. It holds highway speeds just fine. This summer the engine was completely rebuilt in Central, SC by a reputable shop. This vehicle has been my restoration project for thirteen years. It is easier to say what has not been done than the many things that have been completed. It has an alternator. This summer the tie rods, tie rod ends, shocks and steering box were all replaced. I have a complete file of what has gone into the car since I have had it. It has a clear title. All the gears work. Currently, a set of regular, black wall tires is on it. The set of Coker white walls goes with it, as well as a correct, stock AM radio (not installed) and a Club anti-theft device for the steering wheel. A rear alignment has not been done. I installed a set of earlier low back seats. If you would rather have the high back seats, they can go with the car. There are two sets of keys (two door/ignition keys, two glove box keys, one rear deck lid key, one Club key). The passenger door locks from the inside, but the key will not unlock it from the outside (one of its quirks). Being a 1970 model Bug, it has the correct rear reflectors above the rear bumper (I'm sorry I don't have a good pic of them on here. You can kind of see them in the pic on the lift). This would be a great car for any Bug lover. It is a real head turner, especially with the white walls on and the pop out windows open going down the road, and makes new friends at every gas station fill up. I recommend using only non-ethanol gas. I by no means expect to get back all I have put into this car. There is a very, very reasonable reserve set. (If you would rather not bid, I have also listed a buy it now price - note - which is not the reserve price.) Please note my good feedback here on ebay. I will do everything I can to help you. Please feel free to ask me any questions, and happy bidding!

Some additional info I tried to edit: It is a 1600cc stock block, line bored, with a 120 Engle cam. New stock cylinders, pistons, etc. The clutch is new, as are all the upper and lower ball joints.

Please message me for a short video clip walk around with the engine running and a better picture of the back of the car that I just made!
