1971 Volkswagen EMPI SPORTSTER DUNE BUGGY // RUNS LIKE NEW

This 1971 Empi Sportster is a real survivor. It's a great on and off road car. Compared to fiberglass dune buggies, it's much easier to get in and out of due to its low side height. The pictures show faded paint, chips, scratches and some minor cracks. It is, however, sound with no rust in the pan or the body. The car spent almost all of its life in So. California. The '60's pan has the correct raised portion in the rear per the Empi plans.
It's got a new bikini top. Brakes work great. Engine runs excellent and has been to the low desert and the mountains without any problems. The engine is a dual port 1600 with a new 34 PICT carburetor. The exhaust is Empi duals, ceramic coated. There's a skid plate under the engine and transmission. The trans. is a swing axle. It shifts with no noises or grinds.
Tires front and rear are Mickey Thompson, Mini Lites in the front, including the spare. The rears are 30 x 10.50 x 15 ATZ's. They are mounted on custom 6" front and 8" rear wheels with VW 5 lug pattern. The seats are really comfortable and are from a Mazda Miata. They're in great shape with no rips or tears and fully adjustable, front to rear with tilt.
A sturdy tow bar is included.
