Description:

1971 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

This is a 1971 VW Bus/Kombi that we converted into a camper and call Crazy1. The previous owner was Earl Shaffer (the first person to hike the entire Appalachian Trail).
It was a frame off restore in 2005/6. We have used this camper a lot and spent many moths traveling the country. She is solid and in good shape, but is not show quality. Living for a month or more at a time in the bus, we added 2 solar panels, 2 house batteries, an inverter and converter so that we could work and be off grid.
The transmission was starting to slip in reverse so we installed a new transmission from Bus Boys in preparation for the sale, and while at the shop, we had the engine rebuilt. They have less than 200 miles.
There are a few issues on the outside but all are cosmetic and can be seen in the pictures. We did have a window seal leak on the driver side rear. No real damage but caused a stain at bottom of wood panel. Also we left the side open in a rain storm that damaged the wood panel we used on the slide door. All the doors lock but we only have a key to the back door hatch.
Crazy1 is a solid VW that runs great and is camping ready.
Pick up is preferred. However, we are now retired and can delivery anywhere in lower 48 states for an added fee. Please contact us for a delivery price before you bid!
