The most luxurious version of the Transporter I vans offered by VW, the Samba was designed for transporting tourists through the Alps. The van is, undoubtedly, one of the most iconic vehicles of the twentieth-century. VW designed the Samba to be most comfortable for its occupants. The "hat" at the front of the van's roof was designed as a sun shade for drivers with the fabric sunroof available to provide air and light on pleasant days. The Samba's dashboard was more comprehensive and detailed than its predecessor's and passenger areas were designed to be roomy and comfortable.
