1963 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

Selling my 1963 Volkswagen Beetle, It has the desirable factory-ragtop sunroof. It opens and closes well, latches properly and doesn't leak. This car is 50+ years old so expect wear and tear, but it is nicer than many originals! Not much rust on this one, it turns a lot of heads when people see it.
This bug is wearing about 90% of it's original paint. The right front fender was repainted at some paint in the past, it is a duller red. The radio had been hacked out at one point so a different dash was welded in and repainted. The rear fenders each have rust holes from catching gravel over the years, see pics; also a small spot of rust in front of each of the rear wheels, about the size of a quarter dollar. There is a 1"x1" hole ground with a grinder into the driver's A-pillar, see pics. Not sure why this was done but it hasn't really bothered me so i never fixed it. Would be easy to weld up. This car was equipped with a gas heater at some point and a few holes for the heater's exhaust and such were welded up in the trunk area. The doors open and close well and windows roll up and down fine. The trunk latches and releases by cable as it should.
The car was a barn-find by the previous owner. The stock 1200 engine is gone, supposedly it had caught fire and was toast years ago.. The current engine is a lower mile 1967 1500cc beetle engine. I do not recall the actual miles on the motor but it does not smoke or make noise that i have seen.
The previous owner had the chassis completely powder coated and bolted the original body back on. Rebuilt front suspension, new brakes and new floor pans. You can still see the great condition of the powder coating in the pics. The wheels are incorrect but they work, they are 66-67. I have a set of correct original style non-slotted wheels that go with the car. Tires are radials and are about half tread remaining. The windshield and seal brand new.
The motor starts and runs fine, clutch works smoothly, original transaxle shifts good. It drives around well. The engine could probably use a tune-up in the future. It has been at least a year since it had plugs and points. Most of the work has been done in converting this car to 12 volt. The brakes and parking brake work. Odometer reads 13,000 but I'm sure it rolled over and is 113,000.
What needs TLC to drive again:
Brakes are due for adjustment, horn and wipers need converted to 12 volt still. The wiper arms and blades are missing, i never had them. They are readily available on VW websites for around $40 for those parts. The stereo and speaker are newer but need to be hooked back up. The turn signals are also currently unhooked from the fuse box. The interior would look/feel much better with the seats re-done. The ignition switch had been replaced and i never had the original door/decklid key. You can buy lock sets and just about any other parts for these cars.
I just haven't made the time to finish this car or drive it. It is a rare and very cool car, and with a little TLC it can be on the road again. My loss is your gain. These older sunroof cars typically go for $12,000+ when fully restored.
