1968 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

This is a well preserved original 1968 Volkswagen Beetle showing (at the moment) only 8,118 miles on the clock. I purchased this vehicle as part of a package with another vehicle that I had wanted for years. The prior owner inherited this bug but was not a car person, so they just stored it and drove it twice a year to make sure everything still worked. Maintenance was performed as they knew it was worth something, so thats how I ended up with a 1968 Beetle in excellent condition with low miles. I have had my fun, and now it is time to pass it on so I can start project.
This vehicle appears to be all original from the wheels to the seats. I serviced the engine when I bought it to make sure it would run properly (new valve cover gasket, oil service, new screen.) The body is in excellent shape. No rust at all, paint is still shiny and has only minimal scattered imperfections (a few minor scratches and paint chips but nothing that stand out. You have to look for them.) Interior is in excellent shape. Seats are near perfect. Carpets and footwells are as well. The dash has a crack due to vinyl shrinkage but overall is in very good shape. Instruments work. Seatbelts buckle. Lights work, AM radio comes in clear. Headliner looks near perfect. Pedals are in very good shape. The horn does seem to be disconnected, but Im sure this is an easy fix (because easy fixes are why they made Beetles!)
Notable firsts on the 68 Beetle --First year featuring a collapsable steering column as a front-end impact safety feature-First year with enlarged tail lamps for better visibility-First year with EXTERIOR fuel filler so you didnt have to open the engine compartment to re-fuel!
Mechanically the vehicle is running great. Transmission shifts nicely. Engine runs well. Tires are very good. Chromed wheels are in very good shape, showing a little wear on the inner rim (which could be restored Im sure.) Suspension is great, ride is nice and tight.
Overall this is a great piece for any car enthusiast. Whether you want it for nostalgic purposes, or you want to restore it to showroom perfect condition, or you want to make it your own with modifications. Everyone is happy to see a Beetle.
