| RARE SURVIVOR! Original 1979 Volkswagen Bus - Documented 116,600 original miles, interior, engine, paint all original (the lighter paint was redone 4 years ago when new window rubber was installed). This vehicle is uncut inside and out. Original radio, door panels, seats, flooring and more. All the original parts and pieces are there and in good order. This is a one owner vehicle before we got it 4 years ago from California. Everything needed to be maintained has been done. All new brake system a few years ago, shocks, tires etc. Regular maintenance by Vintage German Motors in Orem, Utah. It is California smog legal.
If you love old VW Buses this is the year to own. This was the last year of the Bay Window and is as modern, powerful, safe and easy-to-maintain as they came with all the charm going back to the 50's. It has factory full seat-belts, front disc brakes, hydraulic lifters, windshield washer, defroster and there is nothing to do for maintenance, but change the oil and an occasional rear brake adjust when compared to the older models that require constant professional adjustments.
This one is an automatic which is easy and fun to drive. It shifts perfectly and cruises up to 70 plus mph without a problem. It drives straight and tight. It also brakes straight and stops on a dime.
At close inspection there are plenty of imperfections and tiny corrosion spots on the paint as expected for an original at this age. The vehicle is completely rust free. The interior upholstery too has some seams that have opened up and the drivers seat bottom is well worn. It's kind of a time-capsule that tells a story of yesteryear.
It has drop spindles (originals available) on the front to give a better stance and tighter handling and the white wall tires were added to give a cheerful look.
All the lights and electrical works perfect including the cool vintage analog clock. The gas gauge likes to show empty at about half full. The VW stock AM radio is still in place and works, although we added a CD stereo with USB and AUX capabilities in the glove box. A pair of quality speakers sit under the middle seats that add fantastic sound without any cutting into this original beauty.
Comes with the original window sticker and inspection report from the dealer. All the locks work perfectly with the original set of keys including the original locking gas cap. The factory books, jack and tools also are present.
It is safe and ready to drive anywhere.
