This truck is a 1985, but ebay robot does not recognize European VIN so '1980' MY had to be selected. Very nice, well used, SOLID 1.9 diesel manual transmission VW Double Cab truck for sale here. It is offered locally for $890, call me at 912-414-8993 if you want to buy it, otherwise bid here. Civilian model is very nice and virtually rust-free, with a little elbow grease and effort could be a valuable, reliable, economic collectible classic.
I F-ing LOVE this truck and would like to keep it, but financially, I am in a position that I need to sell something soon, and so this is up for sale in addition with a couple of other coveted/ rare classics, and the first one to sell will have to go in a display of sacrifice so the others can stay in the stable.
While this starts, runs, drives and stops reliably, it is a bit of a cosmetic project -- Not rust wise, but paint and trim-wise, in my opinion. If you ca, please come and see/ drive in person before bidding. I know this is a big purchase to make without seeing in person, and I prefer buyers to be happy, or pleasantly surprised with the good condition of the vehicles I sell. I do my best to give a detailed description, and focus more on negatives than the positives ----- If I do not refer to it here in the ad, you can assume it is working or in good condition.
I believe this is the most solid, least-rust example of one of these I have owned. Very solid, but paint beginning to fade, and it has been well used so please do not expect a shiny-new-tight vehicle.

Recently fitted with a 1.9L 1Y diesel engine. Will spin rear wheels with its 70 horsepower! Starts right up, first try, every time.
Speedometer does not work at the moment. I have parts on order to fix a few things, this among them. This week will be fitted with new front disc brakes - new rotors, pads, and brake hoses.
Worst thing about this truck? Driver's door has a big dent that was painted over, and is sagging when you open the door, lower hinge is beginning to come loose from rest of door. would be best to get a new/ replacement door and have fitted to truck. Interior rubber floor mats are shabby. Everything else seems to work. No radio. Seats are original, but shabby as well. Dirty, mainly.
Rims are shabby and ugly, but tires are in good condition. ZERO rust in truck bed, treasure chest under-floor-storage compartment, zero rust in any of the usual areas. If you look hard, you will find a little bit of rust beginning is a very few panel seams, will clean up easily if you are getting truck painted. This thing is so much more solid than most you see..... A cheap paint job and it would be selling for twice what I am asking here.
