1989 Volkswagen Jetta

I purchased this marvelous barn kept Michigan original Jetta last fall on a whim of needing to having a fun winter project. Long story short my wife and I got pregnant again and the project remains. The body is pretty rust free and the interior is the nicest mk2 that I have seen in a very long time. There is nothing missing and all parts are there. The Jetta has 156K original miles with the original 1.6 NA diesel engine. Thats the bad news, he previous owner said that it starts and runs but he stripped the glow plug port on cylinder # 3 thus having low compression. It was then stored in his barn for "a long time." My plan was to overhaul the entire drive train as I have another 89 Jetta diesel engine that I know is good in my basement. I am still planning to get to the engine this summer if this car doesn't sell but here it is for first dibs. With this purchase can also come along the engine and head to replace the one in the vehicle. It should get 45 mpg when running right and also if you are interested and would like to have a 1.9 tdi or aaz I am a vw diesel mechanic and can have that rebuilt and installed for an extra price as well.
