Vehicle Details

1967 Triumph Sports 6 / Vitesse

For auction is my 67’ Triumph Sport ‘6. Named Vitesse in Europe but changed to Sport 6 for the US market. Only 679 were exported to the US, all convertibles. This is a genuine Sport , not a Herald with a GT6 motor. The previous owner registered it with the North American Triumph Vitesse/Sport 6 database:

Year 1967

COMMISION # HC1817LCV BODY # 9061HBC ENGINE # HC1918E

It was originally White with Black interior and sometime in the past had the bonnet replaced with a Herald front bonnet. I have searched and can’t find any stateside to bring it back to original. There are a few for sale in the UK . The paint job is old and a 10 footer. I would love to restore her to original but my other Triumphs are taking a lot of my time. This is a great candidate for a full restoration. Maybe the next owner would bring it back to her former glory……Its so RARE over here!

Engine runs out strong and goes through all 4 gears and reverse . Brakes work great . Gas tank and sender replaced. It will need the shifter linkage rebuilt, it’s sloppy (easy to do with a kit from Rimmer/Moss/Spitbits). The 67’ ZS150 carbs were rebuilt in 2014 by carb expert Joe Curto. I recently had them off to service and they are in great shape. No leaks, floats are good and they are tuned…well almost. There is proof of a weld to the top of the motor, right of the engine number. No idea what happened but it is holding just fine. Brake master cyl was just replaced. Tires are about 8 yrs old and are good. Wheels were recently repainted. As far as the interior goes the seats are not original. I believe they are 69’ Camaro seats. The rears are original. Carpet is ok as is the tunnel cover. Door cards and rear cards are good. Convertible Top is not good but is there. All windows wind up nicely and the side light windows open great. All the rubbers will need replacing. Original Banjo ( same as MK1 GT6 ) Steering wheel is missing the horn push. Lights, wipers, turn signals work. Blower does not. Radio was gone long ago. The speedo is not working (cable spins freely when driving) so the mileage is not original. The car was rust proofed at some stage. The frame is solid. The passenger and drivers floors will eventually need to be replaced, passenger side being the worst. The spare wheel well in the trunk has a small hole and that too will need replacing if you restore it. The rest is surface rust, as you can see in the pics. It is a 55 year old Triumph so I’m sure if you stripped it down you will find more. It does flex so every now and again the doors can swing open. There is damage from the drivers door opening hard.( As you can see the bungee chord in the pics…!) Rear tail light lens and front turn signal lens will need replacing. Hood has dents from the closing mechanism. Common on Heralds ……….As there is not many Sport 6s ( 90 registered) left in the US this is now a Rare car. GT6s are now getting noticed as far as the market goes and prices show it. Hopefully Sport 6s will get the same attention in the future. Car has a clean Minnesota title. It drives just fine on short trips but I would trailer/ship it long distance. Keep in mind the convertible top is not good and not water tight. I have all work receipts dating back to 1992 and spare parts.
