1975 Triumph Stag Convertible White Automatic with original 3.0 engine
1975 Triumph Stag
About this vehicleThis rare 1975 Triumph Stag with automatic transmission is a project vehicle. The owner has had it for 5+ years. The vehicle is partly restored and prepared for repaint work.Seller's Notes1975 Triumph Stag re-listed due to issues with photos uploaded for original listing. House move forces sale. The car had been stripped down for a repaint but I ran out of time. It is now reassembled, though I think it should be trailered or towed by the new owner as it has not been driven on roads for over 3 years. The Original Triumph 3.0 engine runs well and has been run on non ethylene gas. Previous owner had engine rebuild completed 10 years ago by TS owners club founder. Since then the car has hardly been driven, though the engine has been run regularly and maintained on a schedule with GTX 10w30 oil and ethylene glycol (green) coolant. Transmission is a Borg Warner 45 and recently had fluid changed. Body work is in pretty good shape, no major rust problems. The car had been painted old english white (MG color) which was chipped and flaking in a number of places. It was my intention to return the car to the original Triumph white. The underbody had ziebart (bitumen) coating and most of this has been stripped away. There is a little surface rust on the underbody but no holes or major areas of corrosion. There was a little rust on a few seams and drain channels but most of these have been sanded down and treated. The usual rust spots, sills, wings, wheel arches, headlamp mountings are solid. All chrome work is in good shape, a little pitting due to age but nothing major.
Interior seats are good. Dash woodwork has lost a little glaze and could do with tidying up. Seats are well sprung and cushioned. Door trim had new cards made but are loosely fitted. Quarter lights seals have perished and cracked so there are small gaps. I purchased 2 Door seals, a hood frame seal kit, and door trim clips from Robsport in the UK (Cost 128gbp) These are boxed and ready to fit.
Electrics had no major problems before my strip down. Electric windows, lights, etc all worked. Passenger side electric window operating knob is missing. Fuel gauge wasn't showing a reading (probably sender unit issue). Haven't got time to reconnect and test all electrics after reassembly.
The Stag comes with a hard and soft top. The hard top is in good condition and fits well onto the car body. the soft top frame needs a bit of weld work in one corner and the soft top covering is fairly new and hardly used. Original Rostyle wheels with 4 good tires. The car is a continental European model, probably from Belgium. Previous owner informed me that he spoke to the original owner who was a US diplomat working in the UK and wanted a LHD model for when he returned to the USA. This is supported by theThe mileage is not as high as indicated, as the speedo and odometer are in Kilometers. The previous owner provided lots of information in the seller notes of his listing back in 2013. I attached a picture of these as it is no longer available online.
The first 5 photos were taken on June 13th after reassembly including 2 photos with hardtop installed. Sixth photo was taken about 4 years ago with the soft top up. For some reason the old photos are still showing on the relisted item which shows the car stripped down for painting.
This is a no-reserve auction. House move occurs at the end of June. Payment must be completed and vehicle collected before then.ExteriorInteriorEngineDeposits are nonrefundable.Created on the eBay Motors app

This car is restorable. It should not be broken up for spares. The reason I'm selling WITH NO RESERVE is that my house is under contract and I have 4 weeks to remove it. I have no time left to complete the respray and reassemble. I bought the car in 2013 for $8100. I can email any prospective buyer evidence of these facts.

Missing knob on passenger side door is for quarter light window not electric windows

Just to re-iterate, the Stag was reassembled on Saturday June 13th and driven 100 yards from my project shed upto the Garage near the road for collection convenience. Though the engine starts easily and it can be driven, I would still recommend this is trailered as it has not been road driven for over 3 years. I also noticed the rear passenger side brake cylinder has seized and needs to be cleaned up. I hope this answers the questions I've received about whether it is a roller. I know the original listing information still being present is causing some confusion.
