COOL COLOR COMBO, DESIRABLE HARDTOP, SMOOTH RUNNING INLINE 6, LAST YEAR TR6!
1976 Triumph TR6
You will want to get out and drive this TR6 just for fun. Just to feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, and listen to the wonderful sounds of the exhaust as you run through the gearbox. But with the hardtop that comes with this car, you may find yourself choosing to drive it almost all the time for the same reasons you choose to wear your favorite jeans. Because they are comfortably familiar and because you just want to!
Classic British roadsters were more than just cars. They had character and charm that technology and the best engineers have not been able to duplicate since. This is one of the last of those types of cars, and the last year of production for the TR6. Easily recognizable because of its unique body style, this one is painted a colorful and fun shade of Tahiti blue. There are chrome bumpers, a Union Jack on the rear fenders, and steel wheels with trim rings and Michelin Red Line tires. Most of the time you will see them with their tops down (go figure). But, this car comes with a sweet removable hardtop that has been painted to match the body, looks great on the car, and will encourage you to drive it all year round. The trunk, (excuse me, I mean "boot") in this car is pretty big by sportscar standards, but if you want to carry more, there is a luggage rack to strap a real trunk down to.
A tan interior is the perfect compliment to the blue paint. It looks great and stays cooler than darker colors when you leave the top down in the sun. It has also been recently replaced in this car. The seat covers, door panels, carpets, and convertible top are all in great condition. Old world charm is evident in the real wood dash board on this car, which is weathered a bit like the wood on a boat. Smiths gauges keep track of engine functions and a wooden shift knob with a TR6 Union Jack badge is waiting for your hand. The center console houses the ventilation controls and is ready for your choice of stereo to be installed. Putting the hardtop on changes the character of the interior. It becomes quieter, more weather tight, and is warmer in the winter. Get in, grab the leather wrapped steering wheel, and take a ride, no matter what time of year it is.
They stretched the hood on this car when they designed it largely to make room for the big 6-cylinder engine. There is plenty of power on tap for sporting around, especially for a lightweight roadster like this Triumph. Dual Stromberg carbs look great in the engine compartment when you open the hood, which by the way, hinges at the front in another charming British practice. There are signs of regular maintenance with new hoses, belts, plugs, wires, and gaskets evident. The engine is not real fussy about which gear you are in as you motor around town, but you may want to stir the 4-speed manual trans just for fun. Also, there is just something about the sound of a TR6 that will make you want to rev it up just to hear it. An independent rear suspension and front disc brakes also make it fun to drive and you may find yourself taking the long way home as often as possible.
Like those favorite jeans, you can tell from the wear around the edges that this was the car of choice for many adventures. Come on down, drive it away, and start having your own adventures.
