Description:

1971 Triumph TR-6

Here we have a1971Triumph TR6 in Pimento red with black interior.
This car is all original except for the paint, top, tires, and carpet.
As you will see in the photos, this is a very solid car. It spent its first twenty years or so in Phoenix, Arizona and has then been kept stored indoors for the past 20 - 25 years leaving it essentially rust free !
The frame is very solid including the known problem areas such as where the trailing arms meet the frame, and up front at the lower control arms. (No worries there, it is solid!) The body is equally solid! The rockers, floor pans, trunk floor, rear deck area, fenders, all original, no rust!
It has the original 6 cylinder engine that at 46 years old, it starts easily, and runs good. With the factory British Leyland exhaust, it sounds exactly like a TR6 should!!
The paint is in very good condition and shines up nicely ! It acquired a few very small dings while sitting stored away, but no scratches or anything obnoxious or hideous. No, it's not a show car, but an excellent driver quality!
The chrome is in extremely good condition. The only blistering is on the left rear tail light housing. The bumpers are straight with no chipping or peeling.
The seats are also the original, as the photos show, they are in near excellent condition. The factory seat belts are fully functional as well.
New maintenance/ repair parts installed within the past year or so are as such:
Aluminum radiator, upper and lower hoses (the green ones) Thermostat, water pump, V-belt, and heater control valve. The block and heater core were flushed at that time, and refilled with antifreeze to a 50/50 mix. Its had a complete tune up including new spark plugs, distributor cap, plug wires, rotor, points & condenser, oil & filter, valve cover gasket, fuel pump, and fuel lines along with new fuel and air filters.
The front shocks are also new along with all of the rubber brake hoses, rear wheel cylinders, master cylinder kit, brake shoes, hardware kits, and front brake pads. The front wheel bearings and seals were also replaced at that time.
Other new parts include: Headlight switch, clutch & pressure plate, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder kit, hood pins/buffers, windshield gasket, the rubber seal between windshield and body, and a radio antenna.
The brake and clutch hydraulics were filled and bled with Valvoline semi synthetic fluid. I've found that the semi synthetic will last years longer than the Castrol GT and will not destroy the system as regular DOT 3 fluid will do.
The top is a few years old and is in excellent condition. The quarter, and zip out back windows are nice and clear with no clouding. The carpet is presentable and in decent condition, but not new in the sense of recently replaced. The windshield and door glass are in remarkable condition as well.
The wheels have been repainted and a new set of 205/70 R-15 tires were installed. They have less than 200 miles on them.
I'm sure there are some other items that have been replaced but not mentioned, but I'm just trying to give you a feel for what you're looking at.
Bottom line:
This has got to be the most solid TR6 I've seen in a very very long time! Its not a restoration job where you don't know what you're getting!
Its well maintained, runs good, looks great, and is a pleasure to drive! Yeah, it's a Triumph, they will always need something! But it is not a car that you will have to spend the next 4 months working on just to be able to drive it.
In full disclosure, There is one small area under the battery where battery acid had eaten through ~ that has been repaired. I also believe it will need a speedometer cable as the speedometer is not working as it should. Other than that, it is a very solid road ready car!
As stated above, it's not a show car, but an original survivor that will make for a very nice driver. It just needs a home where someone will take it, personalize it, and make it their own.
Being the car is 46 years old and I am not the original owner, I will not say for certainty that the odometer reading is actual.
I've tried to describe this car the best that I can. If you have any questions, or would like additional photos, please feel free to ask.
As far as transport services are concerned:
I ran across a guy last Summer that said he will transport most any car anywhere in the USA for around $600.00 ~ If you're interested, send me a message and I will give you his contact information and you can deal with him directly.
Also - I feel that I owe an explanation to those of you who are wondering as to why I had taken this listing down after a few short hours.
The night that I placed the listing, I'd lost track of time and thought I had an extra week before the holiday. Being that I will be away from Friday evening (the 30th) until mid day Wednesday the 5th, and have no idea what the internet access will be where we're staying. I didn't want to take a chance of not being able to answer questions or send additional photos at such a crucial time.
I believe in customer service and will do my absolute best to respond as quickly as possible. I have photos of this car from nearly every angle, if there's something you want to see, just ask.
Thank you for your understanding!
Thank you for your interest!
