1959 Triumph TR-3 Good Solid Driver, Numbers Matching, Original Interior & Top
1959 Triumph TR3 Roadster
This is a solid, original, running and driving 1959 Triumph TR-3. It would be a good candidate for restoration, or it could be used as a driver with a little bit of work. Although it was painted blue many years ago, the original color was signal red with black interior and white top, tonneau, and side curtains.
HISTORY: This is an unrestored car purchased from its second owner. It comes with its clear title that was issued on July 3, 1970. Included and pictured above is the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate showing that it is an original numbers-matching car. It has Chassis No. TS39040L, Engine No. TS39493E, and Body No. 1013972. It has what looks to be the original interior, top, side curtains, tonneau cover, wire wheels, and windscreen washer system. The odometer reads 43,258. This could be the original mileage, but I have no way of verifying it.
MECHANICAL: The engine starts easily, runs very well, and has good oil pressure. It is not burning oil and does not appear to have any significant leaks. It has a new clutch master cylinder. The clutch feels good and the transmission shifts through all the gears. It has new brake hoses and a new brake master cylinder. The brakes and the parking brake feel okay, but it should have a brake job done before driving it any distance because the rotors, calipers, pads, shoes, and drums are very old. The tires need to be replaced (they are very old but still hold air.) The battery is new.
BODY / FLOORS / FRAME: The frame, floors, trunk, and spare wheel well look very solid. The body is good for its age, but there is rust in the sills and on some spots on the fenders. The hood, trunk and doors open and close properly and are in decent alignment. It looks like there was some minor accident damage to the nose and front bumper that was repaired long ago. The paint is old and has dings, chips, and scratches. This car was originally Signal Red, but it was painted blue sometime long ago. It is still red in the trunk, engine compartment, and foot wells.
INTERIOR / TOP: The interior looks to be original and is in very good condition for its age. The convertible top, side curtains, and tonneau are old but look original. I think the seats, trim, and dash are completely original, but the carpets might have been replaced at some point. It has a brand-new windshield.
ELECTRICAL: The electrical systems are in surprisingly good working order. The lights, headlights, tail lights and left turn signals work properly, but the right turn signals are not working. The wipers, gauges, and gauge lights are all functioning properly.
TITLE TRANSFER AND PAPERWORK: I am a long-time classic car hobbyist and a licensed Florida car dealer (Classic Investment Motorcars Inc.) This means that you must complete the required sales and title transfer forms with me, which can be done in person or through the mail. The car cannot be released until I have received all completed paperwork and payment in full.
DOCUMENTATION FEE: A flat fee of $100 is charged on all vehicle purchases to help cover postage, paperwork, vehicle preparation, and other costs. Please understand that this fee cannot be waived. This fee applies regardless of whether you are an individual or a dealer.
SALES TAX: If the vehicle is shipped out of Florida by common carrier or freight forwarder I will not need to collect sales tax (you will take care of that where you live.) If you live in Florida, or pick up the car in Florida, then I am required to collect applicable sales tax and tag/title fees. If you live in another state and pick up the car here, most states will give you credit for the sales tax I collect (in this case the sales tax rate will be the lesser of 6% or the rate that applies to you in your state.) Please feel free to contact me before bidding to find out how the tax rules will apply for your individual state.
DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT: A $200 non-refundable PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the listing. The balance must be paid by cash, cashier’s check, or wire transfer within seven days. All cashier’s checks must clear the bank before the vehicle can be released. If the buyer does not pay in accordance with these requirements, I may, at my option, make second-chance offers or re-list/remarket the vehicle and the deposit will be forfeited by the buyer.
SHIPPING: Arranging and paying for shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. We are happy to cooperate with any shipping company you choose, domestic or international. We may also be able to help you arrange shipping at a good price, but the responsibility will remain with you.
