UPDATE:
During the earlier listing, a potential buyer had an inspector come out and look at the car. I did not get to see his report but during the inspection he made the following comments. He dinging me on the non-original electrical system, alternator, wiring, multiple fused circuits, etc. I told him all that is in the description and the original generator system had TWO fuses for the whole car. If you got an electrical short and you were dead on the side of the road. I told him the new electrics is an UPGRADE.He dinged me on the original seats that need recovering and the added seat belts. Again the MX-5 seats are an UPGRADE and seat belts, REALLY?He dinged me on the door fit. The body suffers a common Herald convertible ailment, tub spread. It is repairable but I could find no one that would do it locally. He dinged me on the paint saying it is not show quality. It is not a show car, it is a driver! If I had the additional $4000 for a show paint job, I probably still wouldn't have done it.He dinged me on the carpet fit. I don't know what to say about that except the early MK 1 Herald has a slightly different floor pan than later models and the carpet set is what was available. He dinged me on the non original instruments. The original car has just a fuel gauge. The voltmeter, oil pressure and water temp gauges are again an UPGRADE.He even dinged me on the non original coolant overflow tank. It made sense to me to put it on since Triumph added it in later model years and I had one from a parts car.He walked away saying it is not original. By now I just told him, "No sh!t Sherlock, it's a driver and all the modifications and improvements are in the description".Anyway he said it does not command a top tier price in the condition it is in and the $9500 is too high but did not suggest a price. So, given that inspectors seem to think a concours restoration is the only car that commands the top tier price, the relisted price reflects the non-concours state of the car.
