1976 Toyota FJ Cruiser FJ40

Condition:This is a very solid, lean, nd reliable FJ40. It has been a long time Washington State Cruiser that has been in a climate-controlled garage since 1983. It was towed on a flat-bed trailer to Kansas last year. It is ready for driving.

The body is solid and clean.

• Underneath is in incredible condition.

• There is absolutely no rust-through anywhere, nly some rust spots around the rear doors area, nd inside in the back corners of the upper deck where the seats attach.

• It still has some original paint, ut most areas repainted.

• Part of the driver side rear quarter has been repaired and painted before we bought it. Color match is good.

• It has an original Toyota muffler.

• Has locking door to the gas cap.

• Has all original “Toyota” and “Land Cruiser” signage plates.

• It has original windows, rive train, nd engine.

The interior is in very good shape.

• Seat surfaces are all original and in surprisingly good shape, xcept the driver’s seat which has some rips along the seams and cuts, in all.

• There is one rear fold-down seat on the driver’s side. It still has the Toyota sticker on the back.

• Four original “Toyota” seat belts, wo front and two rear, ll having buckles that say “Toyota”.

• The back decking and the floors have all been sprayed with black truck bed liner coating. This is under the black mats. See the extra pictures on the Flickr sight listed below.

• It has original “Toyota” floor mats in front and the original back mat that does not have an imprint. The front floor mat on the driver’s side is worn through where the driver’s heel sits when pushing the accelerator.

• All the knobs are original.

• The heaters and blowers are strong.

Mechanically, he Cruiser runs, hifts, nd stops well.

• The engine runs smoothly and has nice power.

• The clutch functions well.

• It is not burning oil.

• Original TEQ caps.

• New parts: four tires, attery, ipers, istributor cap, otor, oints, amp; condenser, park plugs & wires, CV valve, uel pump, uel filter, ntake & exhaust manifold gaskets, il & air filters, an & air pump belts, ome hoses, aster brake cylinder, rakes, ie rod ends & links, nd all fluids. The carburetor has also been refurbished. Receipts included.

• It has new pedal pads for the brake, lutch, nd gas, nd a new shift boot.

• The outside rear-looking side mirrors are not original, ut are the new convex mirrors on older brackets.

• The wheel drive capability settings are High 2, igh 4, ow 4, ith a shift lever inside on the floor and hubs on the front wheels.

Extras:

• Included is the original vintage yellow-colored jack and three-piece crank handle in brackets.

• It has an original Toyota license plate holder on the front bumper, ut since Kansas only requires one plate in the rear, t is open in the pictures.

• The new tires have less than 300 miles on them. They were installed 8-16-14 and are 50,000-mile warranty tires. There is also a very used spare tire whose white wheel matches the four on the vehicle. The tire does not match the four new tires on the Cruiser.

• There are towing bracket points on the front bumper and there is a triangle tow bar included, f desired by buyer. I have never used it so do not know its viability.

• There is a very solid tow hitch bracket on the back.

• It has an Ooga horn installed, n addition to the stock horn. It can be easily taken out by new owner if not desired.

Issues: There are no major issues, ut some things worth noting. It is missing the spare tire carrier. It does leak fluid, ikely from the steering box, ut hard for me to tell. The passenger side door window rolls down only part way. The left turn signal intermittently stays solid then blinks. It is missing the ceiling liner. There are two cracks in the black vinyl dash board, ne in the middle and one on the passenger side end. All the lights work including the license plate lights and the interior and speedometer lights, owever, here is an additional set of fog lights mounted on the front bumper which do not work. There is some smoke on start-up, hen clear running. It is missing the original tool kit under the driver’s seat and now there is a fire extinguisher held in its place. There were the words “Ridge Runner” in decals on both sides of the hood, ut they have been removed. You can still see a very faint outline of the letters (see Flickr picture).

History: Manufactured in May 1976. I believe this Cruiser had two owners in Idaho before my family bought it in 1980. We used it for light on-road hunting for a few years then preserved it in a climate-controlled garage since 1983. I brought it to Kansas last year and now need my garage space for another vehicle, herefore, his sale. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
