1966 Toyota Land Cruiser

Very rare to market is this beautiful 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45LV wagon finished in capri blue and white. While many are familiar with the FJ40, only about 1000 of these left hand drive (L) vans (V) were imported into the USA and only 118 of them are currently accounted for. This generation is unique among FJs, as Toyota used an outside coachbuilder, Gifu Auto Body Co. Ltd., to build them by hand. The limited production numbers, an even higher propensity to rust than your average FJ (due to the double-walled bodies) has led to only 118 known examples left in the USA and far fewer that have been restored. Fortunately this example spent most of its life in Arizona and now resides around the shores of Lake Tahoe. This is the onlyrestoredFJ45LV with its original engine that I have seen available for sale in the last 8 years since I have owned this one. This FJ45LV underwent a restoration in 2015 in Arizona and has since had a few upgrades to make it a more modern driver. The original F135 engine is still in place, but has been upgraded with a Holley Sniper EFI kit, a H55F Toyota 5-speed transmission, and a very rare Man-A-Fre header to pull more power out of the original straight-6. The entire wiring harness was also rebuilt in 2022. Great care has been taken to source or reproduce original (and most often unique to the FJ45LV wagon) parts. The truck runs great, has some tiny fluid drips as all old cruisers have, and is definitely a major head-turner. The few issues as you will see in the photos:

  • small crack in passenger side window from slamming the door too hard
  • small oil drip from the pan plug - I have had 11 land cruisers and have never had one that did NOT at least have a small drip
  • in some areas the paint is starting to wear thin around the edges of the doors, etc. Could use some touch-ups
  • there are some small perforations in the rear seat backs
  • Aftermarket e-brake (added as part of the 5-speed transmission) needs maintenance to get it to properly engage. I'm hoping to have time to get this dialed in before finalizing any sale.
  • Bezel is upside down, just because it gets cruiser heads worked up.
