1967 Toyota FJ40

If you know you know. This is the one you’ve been looking for. I Have spent the last year and a half of my life restoring this classic 1967 Toyota FJ40. I acquired it on eBay and had a decent canvas to start with. The tub was relatively rust free and it was mostly complete. We started by taking the entire vehicle apart. The minimal rust that existed was fixed properly and every body panel was painted separately. As far as I can tell, the glass is original we replaced all of the rubber moldings and window trim including the wing windows and both passenger and driver side felt track. (I left the stickers on the back window because I thought they were kind of cool, but they can easily be removed.). We sandblasted, and powder coated the frame, axles, drivelines, bumpers, air intake, basically anything you see that is the color black has been blasted and powder coated. It was reassembled using all new stainless steel bolts, nuts, and washers. That’s right…STAINLESS STEEL. no expense spared. Everything that could possibly be replaced has been replaced. All of the rubber, door, seals, window seals, hood, bumpers, all of it. The wheels are OEM Toyota and have been painted white with factory hubcaps to match. The tires are new Goodyear wrangler, 235/75R15. We upgraded the suspension using Old Man Emu springs, Bilstien shocks, and greaseable shackles. All of the rubber body mounts, nuts, bolts, etc. are new.

Every mechanical aspect has been gone through thoroughly including new gaskets on the differentials, rebuilt brake master cylinder, rebuilt clutch, new brake drums, pads, etc, we also installed stainless steel brake lines all around.

As far as the engine is concerned, it has fantastic compression and runs like New. we replaced spark plugs, wires, fuel lines, rebuilt the carburetor, added an aluminum radiator, rewired the entire vehicle with modern fuses and connections and installed a custom exhaust. The inside of the tub has been coated with black bedliner for noise reduction but Carpet could easily be installed over the top of it. All of the seat frames were painted black before being custom upholstered. We even covered the backside of all of the seats to give it that modern, clean look. Headlights have been upgraded to LED and I do have the original Toyota badge that goes on the front grill. All of the lights, signals, wipers, even the horns work as they should. This particular model has the rear heater, and I have the parts for that but have not yet installed them. I included a few pictures for reference.

Obviously, all of the fluids are new, and this amazing example of one of the most iconic vehicles ever built, probably has less than 30 miles driven on it since completed. As far as I know, it is mostly original, including the three on the tree transmission, original engine, and all of the fun that comes with it ????.

If you are in the market for an FJ40 you simply will find a better example. I have hundreds of pictures and videos of the process and I am happy to answer any legitimate questions. I’m happy to do a video call and take it for a ride!!

“You can never go wrong when you do things right”. That’s our motto at Park Place Customs and we will stand by that! PS. the color is epic and the unique nostalgia of this particular vehicle will make it a favorite for your kids, grandkids, and the rest of the world.

Good luck and happy bidding. You can find my shop on Facebook at Park place customs. we specialize in all sorts of different custom fabrication and restoration, but have a deep affinity for land cruisers. Next project… 1963 FJ45 short bed. Or maybe a 3 door Volkswagen Combi…or a 76 FJ45? Or the 65 FJ45 that I bought from Disneyland as a prop at the Grizzly River Run attraction…

Or maybe it’s something custom for you!?!?!

Decisions decisions…????
