Vehicle Details

I've owned this for 8yrs. I'm the third owner. According to its second owner, it started out life working as a Forestry vehicle in Leadville, Colorado, USA. The older gentleman that I acquired it from had it converted to a SBC Chevy v8, a factory purchased first gen 350cid Goodwrench, naturally aspirated running TBI off an older OBD1 ECM with a removable prom chip, matched for a manual transmission. They also installed a TransAdapt gear splitter, it's the first shifter of the four from the left. *I'll have to look through the paperwork to find the part number to know the ratios. It also has an auxiliary fuel tank in the rear with a fuel tank selector. It has a 3 core aluminum radiator and electric fan, serpentine accessory drive, exhaust headers with 3" inch dual exhaust. It still has manual steering. I didn't drive it around much because I dreamed of tearing it all apart, top to bottom, to rebuild it with a newer setup. It drove around good, my dogs didn't mind that it was a bit jouncy in the back; the auxiliary fuel tank location interfered with the upper rear shock mounting points and the suspension was riding on the leaf springs only. I planned on addressing this in the rebuild but never was able to realize the dream. It's been sitting there for sometime now, through sun, rain and snow. It's quite depressing to know that I wasn't able to afford rebuilding it. Such an awesome classic too. Do your own research, I think only around 8,000 of these were produced in '78. Decoding my vin tells us that this one was assembled in April 1978, around the 1,000th that came off the line that year. I have the bumper that it had, including the pto driven winch (view all photos for reference) but I bought a nice aftermarket bumper. I didn't immediately install it because it was fabricated a bit tight and will need some slight modification to fit the frame. One tire blew out and the right rear is on the spare. The spare tire mounting arm also has a connection to hang a bumper jack. The rear markers are functioning signal lights. The rear bumper is also different, it has an operable lid to access its interior for storage. The roof doesn't leak but it does have some areas where someone previously applied patches of fiberglass. All the glass is good except for the windshield that is cracked. The fuel tanks haven't held fuel in over a year, the battery is old, the coolant could use a change. The transmission, differentials and transfer case had all their fluids changed but I would still recommend having them checked. I have a brand new master cylinder to go with it too. I have one key and it works on all the locks and matches the ignition. There is rust at the base of the ambulance doors (pictured).

I understand you probably still have questions, however, I already wrote a novel and I'm not going to list my contact info for the whole internet to see. So, feel free to send me questions or make me fair offers. If you prefer, we can discuss the matter instead. How? I sell pocket knives, go view my listings, I listed an inexpensive everyday carry, it's an orange pocket knife for twelve dollars. It'll say FJ40 at the beginning of its title. Buy this item and I will know you are sincerely interested, and *IF your contact info is up-to-date, expect a call immediately or within the hour, *unless it's past 8pm MST, then I'll reach out to you around 8am the following morning. *If you read this far you might as well have me give you a call. ????‍♂️
